I never really liked the red that women prefer
Red lipstick, red nail polish
Am I the only one who feels taken aback by things like this?
Especially deep red lipstick and nail polish.
It is just my own personal prejudice, but
I feel a sense of toxicity from such deep reds.
Is it because of the image of blood? Or perhaps the image of wine?
Is it because the haughty women in movies and dramas tend to prefer those colors?
I do not know the reason, but I felt a certain pushiness somewhere.
Since I am naturally a quiet, introverted type who lives in the shadows,
I might have a苦手 (a feeling of discomfort) toward women who have an image of being flashy.
The reason I realized that was a prejudice is because
my wife (my girlfriend at the time) used red lipstick occasionally.
To be honest, when I first saw her wearing it, I think I felt a bit of discomfort.
But those feelings
can be overturned quite easily
if there is a reason like "because it's someone I like."
(Huh? Maybe I don't dislike it, maybe it's actually good.)
The reason I can think that way
wanting to be seen as a wonderful woman
wanting to be seen as cute
might be because her feelings
were conveyed to me.
I don't know much about makeup, but
I felt like she chose the color red
for that very reason.
Ever since I realized that,
red isn't so bad after all.
I've come to think that.
Because the woman who chose it
"I want to be a wonderful woman."
I feel like she is wrapped in that kind of sentiment.
Other women
might have those kinds of feelings too.
I want to look like this, I like this version of myself
I feel like there is a wish like that
When I think that way,
I can naturally accept the red color I used to dislike.
I thought, this is actually nice.
The person you love
is someone who
can make you like things you used to dislike
so easily.
They make you love them.
They use a strange kind of magic, don't they?
Come to think of it,
the woman I saw at the cafe
a week ago was the same.
She was reading a book
while drinking coffee.
Even though it happened a week ago,
the reason it remains so clearly in my memory
is because
her nails were painted red.
Red is eye-catching,
so I can't help but look at it.
I wonder if she's the same.
I suddenly found myself thinking about her heart.
I want to be a cute version of myself.
Did she choose that red this morning
with that wish in mind?
While using her smartphone,
did she feel her spirits lift
when she caught sight of her beautifully painted nails?
On the way to the cafe,
looking at my own nails,
perhaps my mouth softened a little.
Imagining her like that,
I thought it was very feminine and lovely.
Wearing my favorite nail polish,
drinking my favorite coffee,
and reading my favorite book.
What a wonderful moment that is.
She must have been
savoring a happy moment.
A slow, relaxed time inserted
into days that are usually busy.
Like a bookmark in a book,
just having time like this,
allows you to leisurely savor
the long journey that is life.
I have to do this
I have to do that
Being released just a little
from those busy days.
Perhaps humans
need time like this.
Time to slowly savor one's own life.
I feel like
I want to read a book.
I want to buy a new book, too.
If I went to a bookstore
with this feeling right now,
I think I might be drawn to
a book with a red spine.
You might be wondering
what on earth I'm talking about, haha.
Actually, this is an essay
I wrote based on a thumbnail.
Theme: Reading and red nail polish
Someone named Nicolakocreated a thumbnail with this theme,
and since they wrote that they wanted
someone to write a piece based on their thumbnail,
I thought I'd take the opportunity
and just wrote this on a whim,
following the momentum of the moment.
Even though I have things piling up to do,
this urge to write just
won't stop, haha.
The story about the woman who appears
in the second half is fiction.
Nicolakowas the inspiration for that character.
(Everything else is based on my own experiences.)

Everyone, please
try using this thumbnail.
Isn't it super stylish? (I'm at a loss for words)
It's pointless for someone like me who has nothing to do with style
to talk about style, but
It's not just a composition of a woman reading or books and coffee, but the focus is on the hands reading!
There aren't that many thumbnails on note yet
that I want to use,
so with the hope that
more wonderful thumbnails like this will increase...
Search for "reading and red nails"and
the thumbnail will come up, so please do!
If you think it's wonderful,
I'm sure the creator would be absolutely delighted
if you left them even just a short comment.
