Divine Retribution
A resident's family sent us a huge amount of mandarin oranges, so I've been eating one every day, but I feel like my hands have turned yellow, and I'm actually quite worried about whether they'll go back to normal.
Hello, I'm Cossy, and I quite like mandarin oranges.
Anyway, I recently received my third COVID-19 vaccination. I've heard rumors that the side effects for the third shot are quite tough. One of our staff members who got their third shot recently said they were bedridden with a high fever for two days.
Despite how I look, I'm actually quite the picture of health; I never get sick and don't even catch colds. They say fools don't catch colds, but the person calling someone a fool is the real fool! You're the fool! You're the fool! #Boomerang
Even though I'm such a picture of health, I had plenty of side effects after my second shot, suffering from a high fever and aches in all my joints. The other staff members were worried about me since I tend to react to vaccines, and they asked if I should take some time off after my third shot.
It was a truly kind gesture, and while I could have taken them up on their kindness, I possess one of the most iron-willed hearts in Aichi Prefecture. They say illness starts in the mind. If I think I'm fine, then I'm fine!
I politely declined the staff's offer and decided to go to work as usual after my third vaccination.
And then, the day arrived.
My third vaccine was Moderna. Some say that Moderna is more likely to cause side effects than Pfizer. However, that doesn't apply to someone with an iron heart like me. Whether it was Pfizer or Moderna, I didn't feel like I would lose.
I got the jab in my left arm. I feel like it hurt less than the second one. I didn't have any fever or feel unwell that day.
It was the next day.
Judging by the punchline of this story, you might think I felt terrible, but I was in perfect health, to the point of being anticlimactic. I had no fever and no headache.
If anything, I felt even better than usual. I really think your mindset is what matters. It was the moment my iron heart triumphed over the vaccine's side effects.
I went to work in high spirits. I reported to the staff who had been worried about me that I was fine. Then, the staff treated me coldly, as if their heartfelt concern from the day before was a lie, saying things like, 'What a waste of worry,' 'If you're fine, then you can work normally,' and 'Please get to work.'
In reality, my body was in great shape, so that was totally fine, but I felt a bit lonely not being worried about at all. Since they are usually quite strict with me, I kind of wanted them to worry about me at a time like this. I wanted them to tell me not to push myself too hard.
Even though I was in perfect health, I started coughing, panting unnecessarily, and saying things like 'phew' after moving just a little bit. Then, one of the staff members who noticed this asked, 'Are you actually feeling rough?'
No... I-I'm fine... phew... hah... (*´Д`)
It wasn't tough at all, but I was happy that they were worried about me, so I gave a suggestive reply. Then, the staff immediately discussed it and changed my shift.
Kosshi-san, please go home for today. And take tomorrow off as well. There's no point in pushing yourself here.
Even though I wanted them to worry about me, I never expected them to give me the day off, and I was truly happy for everyone's kindness. However, I didn't feel sick at all; in fact, I was in perfect condition, so I felt too guilty to take the day off just like that.
No, I'm fine. It's not bad enough to take time off. Thank you!
Wrapped in the kindness of the staff, I thought I would continue working. Having been injected with energy, I feel like I can work even harder than usual!
That's what I thought, but the staff said, You said that earlier, but you looked like you were in pain, didn't you! Just go home! It's a nuisance if you work while you're feeling unwell!
They were so kind just a moment ago, but they said that quite angrily, so I couldn't argue back and decided to take them up on their offer and go home. Even though I was in perfect health.
Well, I usually work busily as a 'Steel Alchemist of Consecutive Shifts,' so I decided to take it easy and enjoy the day off I had been given.
I thought it would be inexcusable to take the next day off too due to a fake illness, so I planned to go to work as usual the next day... but the next day, my fever spiked, I had severe pain in all my joints, and I ended up having to take the day off anyway.
Divine retribution struck for using a fake illness to make people worry when I was in perfect health. I tossed and turned in bed, tormented by fatigue and guilt.
Idiots don't catch colds, but big idiots who lie to everyone will receive the punishment of side effects. Please be careful.
See you again.
Kossy
