I am a Buddha, and you are a Buddha
When the Great Teacher Dengyo of the Tendai sect was born,
He said, 'I am a Buddha, and you are a Buddha. There is no difference between your Buddha and my Buddha. You yourself are a Buddha. Try it for yourself,' and
He spread the teaching of what is called Jiri-Rita (improving oneself and saving others).
This kind of Buddhist education has taken various forms and has continued to this day.
That is, in short, the doctrine of the Lotus Sutra, the flavor of the Lotus Sutra, and the joy of the Dharma.
It has nothing to do with knowing the sutras or memorizing them.
As long as your very way of living is Buddhist, in line with the Lotus Sutra, and in line with the Tendai tradition, that is enough.
I hope you will think of it that way, and that you will raise your children and grandchildren, and provide Buddhist education in your homes.'
