🪵Thinking about words - Duality and Multi-facetedness

There is a word called duality.

Front and back / Light and darkness / Self and other.

The 'front' exists because there is a 'back'. If there were only 'light', nothing would be visible. Because there is an 'other', one can recognize the 'self'.

There is a word called multi-facetedness.

A single event changes its shape depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

A cup is a circle when viewed from above, a rectangle when viewed from the side. Essentially, it does not change.

Duality is two sides of the same coin.

Everything exists as a pair. This relationship exists while complementing each other. Neither can exist on its own.

Also, leaning toward an extreme disrupts the balance. Just as light that is too strong blinds the vision, a world tilted only toward one side sees its positive and negative reversed.

Multi-facetedness has a single root.

If the perspective changes, the world changes. It is not that the shape has changed, but that the way it is seen is different. Depending on where you look from, the meaning changes.

However. Emotions can sometimes fix this perspective.

Even if you can understand logically that 'there are other ways of looking at it,' your emotions may not accept it. Just as when you view a past event as 'regret,' it becomes difficult to see that experience from the perspective of 'learning'.

In quantum mechanics, there is an interpretation called 'superposition'.

Duality is a relationship as a pair, while multi-facetedness is multiple perspectives.

I feel that as these overlap, the 'essence' begins to come into view.

Having wanted to know the 'true form' for a long time, this is the kind of thing Satori-san has been thinking about.
