Fufufu

I picked up Hisashi Inoue's "Fufufu" at a used bookstore for 200 yen around last month.
It is a collection of essays published in 2005.
Each essay is short enough to be read in a few pages,

and there are nearly 40 essays packed into it.

It is interesting and in a paperback size that is easy to carry around,
so I have been keeping it in my bag lately
and reading it bit by bit, grinning to myself.

As expected of Hisashi Inoue.

In the essays, I also discovered some things I have in common with Hisashi Inoue, which made me feel happy.

The problem is where I should finish reading this book.
The more interesting a book is, the more I want to savor it until the end and ruminate on the lingering impression in a quiet place.

In the end, today, on my way back from the hospital, I went a little out of my way
and decided to finish reading it at a cafe I had been curious about.
(To be precise, I went there thinking that if it was noisy, I would leave finishing this book for another time.)

A cafe I was visiting for the first time. I was the only customer.
Dim lighting (the retro lamps were lovely), jazz music, and many books piled up,
it was surely a space filled with the owner's personal touch.

It was comfortable,
and I felt that this was a good place to finish "Fufufu".
I am glad I made the effort to go there.

Finished reading.

The fact that I lack the vocabulary to express a good review
is, in a way, quite 'fufufu' (chuckle).

While calling it nonsense, he brilliantly mocks politicians, the wealthy, and those in power with sharp words.
It is truly 'fufufu' and somehow makes me feel refreshed as well.

The regrettable part is,
I think I would have understood the humor even more if I had knowledge of modern history, politics, the history of baseball teams, Showa-era entertainment, and theater.

And surprisingly, it seems there is a sequel to "Fufufu" called "Fufufufu"! I just looked it up and found out.

What should I do, fufufu.

Perhaps I will read "Fufufufu" if I happen to come across it after I have deepened my education a little more.
