A long time ago, a cat gave birth in our home.

Of course, I have experienced human childbirth.

But it was my first time seeing a cat give birth.

"Will she be able to deliver them safely?"

"Will she be okay?"

I was the one who couldn't stay calm.

As the time for birth approached, she walked around the house many times.

The closet, the cardboard box, on top of the blankets.

She checked here and there, then moved on.

It seemed she was looking for a place where she could safely give birth to her babies.

I could only watch over her quietly.

And then, that day arrived.

It was night.

The cat lay down quietly, breathing shallowly as she worked hard.

She didn't make loud noises like a human would.

She just endured it, silently.

I watched over her from a little distance away.

"Do your best."

I whispered it to myself over and over in my heart.

After a while, one little life appeared.

And then another.

Tiny, tiny kittens were born.

Without a moment's rest, the mother cat began to lick her babies' bodies with all her might.

So they could breathe.

So they wouldn't get cold.

She hadn't been taught by anyone.

She had truly become a mother.

My heart warmed at the sight of her.

Even though it was her first time raising kittens, she didn't hesitate at all.

She was protecting her babies as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Mothers are amazing💖

Humans, too.

Cats, too.

I realized they are the same.

A few weeks later...

The kittens began to walk little by little, playing with their siblings, falling down and getting back up every day.

The mother cat, watching them from a little distance away, looked somewhat proud.

I still think about it even now.

The moment a life is born is a miracle, no matter how many times you see it.

And the sight of a mother trying to protect that small life is the same, whether for humans or cats.

The image of that mother cat gently licking her tiny kittens that day still remains in my heart to this day.🐾
