[KOKEROOM Real-Life Record ①] A Super Beginner's "My Home Moss"! Revealing my trial-and-error growing space🌱
1. The mosses that "casually" moved into my home
This is "KOKEROOM".
Last time, I talked about how I started moss terrariums because I wanted some peace of mind during work.
Well, this time, I'm finally revealing the current state of my home's "KOKEROOM"!
I've already made one terrarium.
However, before I introduce that, I'll first introduce all the mosses I'm currently growing!

2. Behind-the-scenes of starting: Moss from acquaintances and Daiso hacks
The mosses currently in my home were actually all growing wild in the gardens of a few acquaintances, and I received them after getting permission.
Since I didn't buy them at a garden center, I'm even more attached to them.
That said, I'm not yet certain if the species names are correct😅
I'm still in the middle of researching that!
(This is also part of the trial and error that comes with being a beginner, right?)
I keep these mosses in glass canisters with lids.
These are Daiso products I impulsively bought before without any specific purpose.
I was surprised myself that they would be so useful in a place like this!
By the way, I have a huge desire to buy other mosses at garden centers and such, but
if I start now, there's a high possibility I won't be able to stop!
So, for now, I'm holding back with tears in my eyes😆
3. Trial-and-error growing space: Living together with a staghorn fern
Currently, I'm using one shelf of a color box as a growing space for the mosses. Just as the name "KOKEROOM" suggests, it feels like a secret little room.
I've installed a plant growth light at the top of the space.
However, I'm still feeling my way through each moss species regarding
"is it okay to keep it sealed?" and "what is the optimal light intensity?"
so I'm currently adjusting the light intensity to be on the lower side.

And, I'm also growing a staghorn fern together with them.
I have an ambition to enrich my desk area by growing not just moss, but various plants😆
4. One incident after another! Beginner anxieties
Actually, since I started growing them, "beginner-typical" incidents have been happening one after another...
Discoloration: Some of the moss has turned brown, or
Withered tips: The tips of the leaves have withered as if they dried out.
As expected, it seems that moisture management and suitability for sealing vary by species, so I'm currently feeling my way through whether it's okay to keep them sealed for each one.
As a beginner, I have some anxieties, but I intend to record this properly as a real "record"!
Please do share your experiences with me as well.
In this post, I introduced the overall view of my mosses and my current cultivation environment.
From the next post, I plan to introduce the mosses living inside these canisters!
I would be happy if you could watch over the growth of this tiny world with me. I will be preparing the next article at a relaxed pace.
Thank you for your continued support!
