Poem: It is Raining

It is raining

Through the glass of the skylight, the red flashing of a railroad crossing enters. Seeing me stop typing and look up, you watch me with amusement.

It's nothing unusual.
We are on the 24th floor, after all.

I return my eyes to my report,
<On the correlation between bullets and human love>,
you reach out from behind me,
press delete,
and over my shoulder, as I sit there stunned,
you type with a single index finger:
<On the sparkle in Eirene's eyes
as she applies cocoa powder makeup>

You say that Eirene, the goddess of peace, has been preoccupied with her makeup lately.
You seem to know her well, even though you've never met her.
When I say this with a laugh,
you put on a slightly serious face and say, "It's something anyone can see," as you point with your ring-clad finger at the silent video playing on the display.

At that moment,
a pure white TGV slides silently in outside the window,
and from the open door,
a long-haired girl steps out holding a chocolate banana.
"I had no idea there was a platform on this balcony,"
I say in surprise,
and you put on a feigned look of innocence and say, "A HOME can be anywhere."
Even inside your heart.

I wonder if Eirene likes chocolate bananas?
The question suddenly slips out.
Probably, but by then,
there's no turning back.

Since the TGV is a locomotive,
it makes sense that it can run on this balcony too.
While I nod in agreement, the train leaves the girl behind and begins to move slowly from left to right.

About Eirene and human love,
about their very ordinary relationship.
But a goddess of peace is nothing more than a contradiction in terms.
As you say this,
you open the glass door to the balcony,
as if to welcome the long-haired girl.

It is raining.
I wonder if the chocolate on the banana the girl is holding will melt in the rain?
