Plarail Expo, almost everyone had the 2,000 yen Doctor Yellow. | Parenting Diary - May 1, 2026 (Fri)
During Golden Week, we went to Fuji-Q, Chichibu, and today, Ariake.
Heading west and east, it's quite busy.
Today was the Plarail Expo.
The moment we entered the venue, the Plarail beam caught my eye.
It's a toy where the Doctor Yellow shoots a beam that you point at various things in the venue, but
this costs about
2,000 yen....That's expensive.
But looking around,
almost every kid had one,
butneither of my kids wanted one.
Maybe they aren't looking around, but
there was absolutely no reaction like they were envious.
I realized
if one of them had it, the other would want it, but
if neither of them has it, they don't say anything.
For my brothers,
as long as this balance is maintained, it's peaceful.

The venue was unusually crowded,
with so many people that I thought, "Did they gather every boy in Japan here?".
Plus, there was heavy rain and strong winds.
I dared to come in this weather
thinking it would be empty, but
everyone probably thought the same thing.
Or maybe it's because it's the first day?

As expected, the most exciting part was the merchandise area.
Looking around, people had their baskets full.
Maybe it's pitiful not to let them see it before buying, so they just buy it.
There were almost no kids crying, and everyone was peaceful.
There wasn't a single child throwing a tantrum.

But we are different.
We don't buy it on the spot, butbuy it on Amazon.
For now, I persuade them...
I understand.
Buying things in a place like this becomes a memory.
Even so, we don't buy it.
My wife's killer line, "I didn't say we wouldn't buy it," exploded.

On the way home, we got one Tomica each.
That's enough.
We probably saved about 6,000 yen for the two of them.
It really helps.
Since neither of them bought it, they didn't cry.
The reason we bought it on Amazon was
because we received 5,000 yen from the government and wanted to use that.
Educational toys, puzzles, or
I thought about various things, but
I used it all up this time.
Thank you, Smile Sale.
