Starbucks Stamp Guy Extra Edition: A Yakitori Restaurant in Takasago, Fukuoka, and Cooking Papa
A 6-minute walk
from Watanabe-dori Station
on the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line.
A small yakitori restaurant
located in Takasago, Fukuoka City.
It appeared in "Morning" released on October 4th,
in the currently serialized
"Cooking Papa"
.

The manga depicts it faithfully
As expected of a long-popular manga artist

from past photos
—
Yes, it was featured in that
"monumental work of Hakata gourmet manga"
.
As someone who has been visiting for many years,
it feels just like
a relative appeared on TV.
And,
one more piece of happy news.
This restaurant
celebrated its 50th anniversary
on October 10, 2025
.

ordered it from another regular
and had it made
—
The manga content also included
one of the owner's hobbies,
harmonica playing 🎶.

playing the harmonica

I totally get it
It seems there is a practice session or recital with friends on the weekend,
and a regular part-timer
showed me the goods.

—
Both the owner and his wife are still active
I learned of the
"two pieces of good news" during my monthly visit the day before.
As always, regulars were sitting quietly at the counter,
and from the grill,
the scent of charcoal and the sweet aroma of the sauce
wafted up.
I savor the crispy grilled "chicken wings" and the "
pork trotters," which are unique to Fukuoka.

Very popular

The meat juices and char are exquisite
Sometimes, as a treat for myself, a steak skewer ❣️

Promoted to the menu after becoming a huge hit
from its former status as a secret menu item
It seems pilots and cabin attendants
from overseas airlines come to eat it
The owner and his wife are
already over 80 years old, but they
"We'll keep going until we're 100!" they say with a smile. Their words make me straighten my back too.
I'll be retiring in a few years myself.
It's like a race to see who 'retires' first,
or perhaps a fated connection in life. —
Yakitori and Starbucks, both are my fuel sources
My monthly trip back to Fukuoka
. Before collecting Starbucks stamps, filling up on energy at this yakitori shop is my standard
routine. Enjoying the owner's wife's special
'rolled omelet' and 'miso soup'
is a must.

'Well, which Starbucks should I go to tomorrow?'
I think to myself.

—
It was an extra edition night that served as a fuel source for the Starbucks Stamp Guy.
— The nearest? Starbucks is here💁
