When heavy rain or typhoons occur near mountains, landslides are a concern.
Recently, linear precipitation zones have been occurring frequently, causing heavy rain damage in various places.
News about losing homes and families due to landslides
is sad, but I feel like I have been hearing it more often.
There are also cases of secondary disasters, such as landslides occurring when it rains after an earthquake...
When a landslide is about to occur, a certain change happens in the river.
Which one is it?
Is this a question you can figure out if you think about it carefully??
Please try to think about the reason as well!

Answer to the 5th disaster prevention quiz with many incorrect answers
Was this a quiz you could have answered correctly if you thought about it?
The correct answer is
...

.....
B: 'The water level of the river suddenly drops'.
What does it mean when the river water level suddenly drops as a sign of a landslide??
Explanation of Disaster Prevention Quiz 5 with many incorrect answers
When heavy rain falls, sediment and trees can accumulate in the upper reaches of a river,
sometimes damming up the water.
This acts like a dam, and even though it is raining,
you may see a phenomenon where 'the river water level suddenly drops'.
In such cases, the possibility of a landslide becomes extremely high, so
it is necessary to evacuate as soon as possible.
Also, if driftwood gets mixed into the river or the water suddenly becomes muddy,
these are signs that there is an abnormality with the sediment and trees upstream.
If heavy rain continues to fall in such a situation, it will turn into a massive amount of sediment all at once
and flow down to places where people live, such as residential areas.
Try to leave the area while it is still light outside
and evacuate.

Was this a question you could have understood if you thought about it carefully?
When you unravel the reasons, wasn't it a question that makes you think, 'I see!'?
In the event of a disaster, you are the only one who can protect yourself.
There is no such thing as 'overdoing it' when it comes to evacuating,
so if you feel something is wrong, please be sure to evacuate
to the location designated by your local government.
