What is the Twitter project #BannerChallenge?

I am Kobayas (@kobayas_s), a Web designer.
In this post, I will guide you through our participatory banner challenge project.

Background of the project

My job is a Web designer, but I have recently taken on the title of director. While my work was going well, I occasionally felt like I was going crazy from the stress of "only correcting other people's designs and not being able to do my own design work! It's boring!" and tweeted about it.

This tweet, which I made on a whim, received a good response.
Creating a website takes many days, and I don't have that kind of private time, so I thought,wouldn't it be possible to do it in a short amount of time if it were a small design like a banner?I also had people around me who were struggling with,

"I don't have any work to put in my portfolio"
"Banner tracing alone isn't enough, and I want to create original designs too."
So, I thought, why not create the prompts myself! That was the start of my first Twitter project.

How to participate in the #BannerChallenge project

*For the hashtag, please insert a half-width space before the # and at the end of the tag, and confirm that it has become a colored link before posting.
*Posting on blogs or other social media is also okay.

I will drop new prompts irregularly, but there is no specific deadline for each prompt.When posting your work, it is helpful if you clearly state which number prompt it is so it is easy to understand.

Although updated irregularly, I have compiled the works of those who participated in the banner, logo, and web design prompts I created on Pinterest.
*I am introducing works posted with the hashtags "#BannerChallenge", "#WebDesignChallenge", and "#KobayasLogoChallenge". Please specify if you do not want your work posted.

Notes

❶ Please include the copyright notice of the prompt creator

Because this project was originally provided as a prompt on Twitter, I have allowed only the #BannerChallenge hashtag to be sufficient, considering the character limit.
However, recently, there are many people who copy-paste or screenshot the prompt text and post it on other sites, blogs, or correction services, so please make sure to include at least one of the following pieces of information. (Added 2020/06/10)

The copyright of the prompt content belongs to "Kobayas".
If you only post the prompt content, people might misunderstand that the banner designer also thought of the "concept, etc." so please follow this rule.

❷ Please use free materials or purchased materials for photos

Let's avoid using images of celebrities or images picked up from the internet for which permission has not been obtained.As is the case with actual work, using materials without the image creator's consent may lead to being sued for copyright infringement.
Also, please be careful not to
completely copy someone else's work when designing.It is a matter of your own responsibility, and this is looked at very strictly when putting it in your portfolio.

❸ Please do not use real names

Since banners are "advertisements," if you use the names of real products or services, some people might misunderstand that the service actually exists.
If you are going to change the prompt content slightly when posting, please use fictional product or service names to avoid misunderstandings.

❹ If you want advice, please appeal in the comments

If the poster wants advice, a single line saying "Please give me advice" makes it easier for viewers to comment, so it is good to tweet what kind of action you want.

❺ Please be gentle when giving advice

I believe most people posting to this challenge project are design beginners.
For those already working as professionals who provide feedback services, please use a gentle tone.
While professionals are used to harsh design feedback and may not mind it, beginners may take advice as a personal attack.
Please try to convey things by pairing the good points with areas for improvement so that your feedback is not entirely negative.
I have written about what I keep in mind to build good relationships with juniors when giving design feedback, so please refer to that as well.

I want to continue this as a project with a great atmosphere, so please be considerate and interact with each other!
Also, since I cannot run this project on my own, I would be happy if you all could help make it exciting.

You are welcome to put the banners you create in your portfolio

Since the designs you post for this project are your own originals, it is okay to post them in your portfolio or on your blog. In fact, I want more people to know about this project, so please spread the word!

#BannerChallenge If you follow this hashtag, you can see posts from various designers. You can study by looking at them or find study buddies. Try actively commenting and interacting with others. And if you think
this is good, I like this design! even a little, please like the post! It will be a boost for future designers.
