Yes, that famous tanka poem—

"This tastes good," you said,
So July 6th is Salad Anniversary

Younger people today might only know it from reading it in a textbook, but
our generation encountered this poem in real-time.
Whenever I read it, I'm struck by it, and it still makes my heart flutter a little.
It's a poem I really love.

And today's lucky item is, of course, potato salad.
It's interesting how potato salad tastes slightly different in every household.
Lately, our go-to recipe at home is mixing a little yuzu kosho into the mayonnaise.
The spicy kick makes it easy to eat plenty even on hot days.
It goes well with refreshing Japanese-style dishes, too.

Come to think of it, the potatoes sent from my parents' house.
I was using them up every day in miso soup, and before I knew it, they were all gone...
I wanted to make potato salad, but now I'm a bit disappointed that I have no potatoes! Haha.
