Morning initial settings (the first minute is everything)

The first minute of the morning will pretty much set how you listen for the rest of the day.
If you decide it's "boring," even the same content will look boring.
If you decide to "go for the fun," the amount of information you can pick up increases.
I believe fun changes based on the listener's mindset rather than the content itself.

1 The true nature of fun (determined by the receiver)

The amount of trivia or unusual topics is not the essence.
Just by adjusting your mindset, the same story can feel like something completely different.
First, set your own way of receiving beforehand.
Decide how to enjoy it first—this is the starting point.

2 Align the entrance (one-line summary + three labels)

Start with a one-line summary.
Share what you are deciding and to what extent in one sentence.
Next, add the target, period, and unit in small details.
If the entrance is aligned, questions will be concrete and digressions will be minimal.

3 Listen with "Nanai" (What, Why, Paraphrase)

Keep three lines at hand.
What = The one point you want to pick up most today.
Why = How it benefits you or your team.
Paraphrase = How you understood it in one sentence, in short.
The more you have a three-line memo, the more the conversation connects to action.

4 Place a signal (verbalize expectations)

Say a word right after starting.
"I will listen from this perspective today."
A short applause or saying "Please go ahead" is also fine.
When you verbalize expectations, the same explanation gains more meaning.

5 Pause with "That's interesting!" (delay evaluation)

When you encounter something unexpected or different, withhold judgment.
Think "That's interesting!" in your heart, and move to observation and re-questioning.
Briefly confirm, "Why do you say that?" or "Where is it different?"
The more you delay evaluation, the fewer things you overlook, and the quality improves.

6 School Japanese vs. Professional Japanese (guessing the right answer vs. creating meaning)

School Japanese is a competition to guess the correct answer from given content.
Professional Japanese is a practical skill to create the meaning of the situation together.
That is why the listener's initial settings are more effective than the speaker's technique.
If the receiver changes, the amount of discovery from the same material changes.

7 Today's step (three phrases)

First phrase: "I will start with a one-line summary."
Second phrase: "I will keep the What, Why, and Paraphrase in three lines."
Last phrase: "I will pause at differences with 'That's interesting!'"
Just by preparing the listener first, the same meeting becomes an interesting and useful time.
