🌈 [Morning Note] "When the AC wind stopped, the report was rewritten / System 1 thinking, flow, and field insight" ✅ Friday, August 1st | 5 years, 4 months, and 21 days of daily "school attendance"
1. The silence that visited the office
Afternoon at the office. The air conditioning wind suddenly stops, and
for a moment, the flow of air vanishes.
Everyone looks up unconsciously, and
the whole room senses "something."
For example, haven't you had moments like this?
2. The moment you notice a change
The hands typing on the keyboard stop, and
the sound of the copier also cuts off.
In that silence, I find myself staring intently at the text of a report.
I feel that "something is different," but the words to explain that "discomfort" do not come out.
3. "System 1 thinking" at work in the unconscious
What is at work in these situations is "System 1 thinking," proposed by psychologist Daniel Kahneman.
People instantly grasp vast amounts of information unconsciously as a "whole pattern."
The "slight change" of the AC wind stopping calls new attention to the entire brain,
and the power to catch essential discrepancies or discomfort begins to move.
4. Flow state and insight
This moment when thoughts are strangely quiet and concentration is at its peak.
What is called a "flow state" in psychology—
all noise and distracting thoughts disappear,
and it becomes a sensation where I and the field are perfectly aligned.
This state is the peak of "field insight."
5. The gap between school Japanese and professional Japanese
In school Japanese, the power to separate sentence by sentence and search for correct answers or explanations is emphasized.
However, in the professional field,
the power to sense the inseparable overall atmosphere and momentary discomfort becomes a weapon.
People who can catch the flow of a "place" that cannot be explained are truly trusted.
6. A word that changes the atmosphere
When the AC wind returns, the sounds begin to flow again.
At that moment, I suddenly pick up my pen, thinking, "As I thought, this sentence is wrong."
An intuition that cannot be explained but surveys the whole—this was the reason I rewrote the report.
7. Insight self-check
Are you noticing the "change in atmosphere" in this field right now?
Are you ignoring discomfort or silence that you cannot explain?
Have you been able to switch your brain from the school Japanese mode of sticking to "correct answers" to the professional Japanese mode of "reading the whole"?
8. The moment of feeling the whole
Why did I think to rewrite it?
The answer only wells up when I grasp the "overall atmosphere" that cannot be explained by the head.
Instead of seeking a correct answer,
I accept it "as a whole" without understanding it.
That is the power of "insight" that is most useful in the professional field. Please use this as a reference.
