Delusional Daily Report July 3rd 'Pink Salt'
Arrived at work at 8:46.
The road with the service entrance behind our office has been under construction for a long time. According to Yumi, a delivery person who wasn't used to the area was struggling there.
"Yamato? Not the usual guy? Ah. That makes sense, it's hard to find," said Nao.
Yumi, who apparently called out to him, said, "Yeah, exactly. But that guy was super handsome! You know, a 'salt-face'? I love that. I want that salt-face to give me a 'salty' response sometimes." "Hey! You! You're already taking in too much salt."
The two of them were in high spirits again. Then, with sharp ears,
"That construction over there? I wonder how long they're going to drag that out," appeared our unwelcome department manager. Not only that, he added, "Back in the day, I was often called a salt-face. Like Higashi from Shonentai," spouting some dubious, outrageous 'Decameron Legend'.
Just then, Pink Salt from the secretarial division, who has an exotic charm, happened to pass by. The manager, looking visibly smitten, called out to her and began heaping praise on everything from her appearance to her attire.
"My, my, more than anything, this dignified and resolute presence of such a beautiful woman? You look like you have a high sodium content just by looking at you? I'm just incredibly weak to that."
Pink Salt, with a cool expression that suggested she was used to such flattery, replied,
"Is that so? But from the perspective of rock salt born in the Himalayas like me, the mineral balance of Japanese women is wonderful. You all mostly use sea salt. It's not too biased toward sodium, and it's rich in magnesium, potassium, and calcium. It's good for the body, and above all, it's perfect for promoting fermentation, isn't it?"
"Oh, I'm flattered! You're making me blush!" The manager, getting carried away and completely missing the point, said, "Speaking of fermentation, thanks to that, the tradition of shio-koji (salt koji) was rediscovered in Japan in 2011. Shio-koji adds a mellow flavor to ingredients and also provides a salt-reduction effect. Japanese women must make use of those merits and transform from sharp salt into even more gentle and modest shio-koji. Hahaha!"
Yumi, who had been listening to the manager's speech with a bitter look on her face for a while, suddenly said,
"Pink Salt-san, what do you think of men like the manager? Since he was once fawned over as a 'salt-face,' I'm sure he'd be charming if you got to know him deeply!"
She had launched a radical, premeditated bombing campaign.
Pink Salt handled that dynamite by
"No. The manager is a no-go," she said, easily dodging and escaping.
On the other hand, the manager, who had taken a direct hit and was covered in metaphorical third-degree burns, spent the whole day irritated, saying,
"Geez, what a stuck-up woman! I wasn't even seriously interested in you anyway. Turning me down on your own. Ugh, I feel sick! What a nasty woman!"
"That 'salt-face' of ours still has a lot of 'koji-ing' to do before he becomes a gentle and modest flavor!"
Nao said, and bowed deeply.
