Half of Setsubun is made of kindness [Weekly Short Short Note]

Today is Setsubun.
Daiki is teaching his younger brother Yuki how to throw beans.

"When the ogre comes, you throw the beans at it."
"Okay, I got it!"

Their father put on an ogre mask and entered the room.

"Okay, remember to say 'Ogre out'."
"Got it!"

"Ogre, out!"
"Ogre, out!"

Daiki and Yuki threw the beans.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch!"

The ogre pretended to be in pain in an exaggerated way.

"Ogre, out!"
"Wait, big brother."

"What's wrong?"
"The ogre is in pain."

"It's fine. We're driving the ogre away, after all."
"But... the ogre looks so sad..."

Yuki spoke to the ogre.

"Mr. Ogre, how old are you?"
"Huh? How old? Uh, I'm 35 years old."

Yuki handed 35 beans to the ogre.

"I'll give you these beans, so please leave my house."

The ogre left the room.
Then, Yuki started to cry, tears streaming down his face.

"My beans are all gone..."

Daiki gave half of his beans to Yuki.
