Old Man Tansu (Weekly Short-Short Note)

I have never taken a day off work just because I had a fever. Let alone ever catching the flu or COVID. Yet, why am I feeling such a chill?

I felt nauseous and got off the train. If I sit on a bench and let the wind hit me, I should calm down eventually. I have an important business meeting today. I can't leave it to my subordinates. I have to go...

"I'm going to an old man tansu (chest of drawers) class."

I looked to the side and saw a high school girl talking happily. She's the same generation as my daughter.

"The teacher's instruction is very detailed."

If there's a teacher, maybe she went to observe the tansu class that old man is attending? What an enviable old man. Even though I'm being avoided by my own daughter...

"He's very passionate."

Wow, is he that amazing? Maybe he's a famous teacher in that field. Still, for a high school girl to be interested in traditional craft tansu, Japan isn't a lost cause yet.

"Look, it's over there."

In the direction she was pointing, there was a sign for "Hydrangea Dance Studio."

...Alright, I'll take the day off.
