For those who have recently lost confidence in their choices: How 'the art of aligning luck' through small choices can change your future
When days go by where you think, "I've been unlucky lately..."
you might start to feel like you are an "unlucky person."
But is "luck" really determined only by coincidence?
■ Causality and Laplace's Demon
Things always have a "cause" and an "effect."
And if you trace the cause, there is always "another cause" that existed before it.
There is no smoke without fire.
The French mathematician Laplace thought that "if one could perfectly grasp the state of the entire universe,
one could predict the future with 100% accuracy" (Laplace's Demon).
However, in modern physics,
due to the uncertainty principle of quantum mechanics, it is considered impossible to predict the future completely.
That said,
even if not 100%, "some degree of prediction" is possible.
In particular,
regarding your own actions, you can decipher a significant portion.
The past cannot be changed, but
the future can be changed through "choices."
■ The results before you are "the accumulation of your choices"
Let's think about an everyday example.
(Cause) Started watching videos at night
(Choice) Cut into sleep time to watch because it was interesting
(Result) Overslept → Late → Got scolded
Looking only at this,
you tend to think "watching the video was bad," but if you trace it back further,
(Cause) Opened a video site for no reason after dinner
(Choice) Clicked on a video that caught my interest
(Result) Got absorbed in it
Here too, there was a choice,
and there was a cause even before that.
None of these were forced on you by anyone; you chose them yourself.
The important thing is that
"you didn't choose to be late."
Choices accumulate unconsciously and simply manifest as results.
■ "Looking ahead" aligns your luck
So, how can you reduce unwanted results?
The answer is simple, and it is
"risk avoidance through 'looking ahead'.
In small everyday situations,
when you can naturally think, "What will happen after this?"
or "What kind of patterns are there?",
your actions will change little by little, and the results will change as well.
I have experience as a programmer and SE,
and I always had to think ahead of the logic in my work.
I believe that habit is being put to use in my daily life as well.
■ How far ahead should you look?
There is no need to predict in detail.
Because it will make you tired.
What is important is
reading the future in 'frames'.
General direction
Possible patterns
Potential risks
Even just doing this will change your choices significantly.
And this "ability to read frames" becomes that person's
form (kata).
Like the "form" in martial arts,
it is a state where you can make choices reflexively.
Once you acquire this,
undesirable results are automatically avoided.
To those around you, it looks like you are a "lucky person".
■ Butterfly Effect ─ Small choices change the future
The butterfly effect is the concept that
small changes produce large results.
The small choices right in front of you
are connected to the big results of the future.
That is precisely why
aligning today's small choices means aligning the "luck" of the future.
■ Summary
There is always a cause for a result
If you trace the cause, there is a "choice"
Choices are determined by their 'form'
Form is created through 'looking ahead'
Looking ahead reduces future risks and changes outcomes
That becomes the foundation for appearing to be a 'lucky person'
In other words,
luck is the 'quality of your choices,' built upon the accumulation of daily foresight.
Today's small step changes the future.
Don't you think that is a very hopeful thing?
