Buckwheat Flowers and Cluster Amaryllis in Orui
The Orui district of Moroyama Town
is famous as a production area for authentic Ni-hachi soba (20% wheat flour binder, 80% buckwheat flour).
Naturally, there are vast
buckwheat fields in the Orui district.
Since buckwheat requires little fertilizer and can grow even in barren land, it has been considered, along with sweet potatoes, a
"crop resistant to famine"
since ancient times.
At this time of year, cluster amaryllis bloom.

The white of the buckwheat,
the red of the cluster amaryllis,
blooming together,
the rural scenery
is vivid and delightful.
