The time I was taken to a mysterious rave in London and Little Simz was performing under a railway bridge
Here is one memorable event from my time staying in London.
A message I received from a local friend I had plans to meet.
Friend: "Plans for next week. I'm meeting up with some other friends, grabbing a bite to eat, and then going to an outdoor secret rave where Little Simz is performing."
Me: "An outdoor secret rave?? On a weekday?? And Little Simz?"
Friend: "YES"
Me: "That's wild 😃"
On the day of our meeting, which I didn't believe would actually happen, I met my friend in the lobby of a hotel in the city center while it was still bright out (sunset in the UK at this time of year is around 9:30 PM). We were then taken to a mysterious party being held on the terrace in the back, where a crowd of what looked like wealthy people had gathered. It seemed to be for charity. After chatting with some of the people around us, two other friends joined us shortly after. We snacked on the champagne and food being served, and once we were feeling a bit tipsy, the four of us hopped in a taxi to head to our destination for the day.
We must have been riding for about 20 minutes. As it started to get dark outside, the driver spoke to my friend with a look of concern.
Driver: "There's nothing at the specified location..."
Friend: "That's fine."
Driver: "Are you sure...?"
Friend: "Yes."
I thought to myself that a mysterious group of four—three British people and one Asian tourist—heading to a vacant lot at this hour might look super suspicious... but we arrived at the scene.
After getting out of the taxi, my friend started walking deeper and deeper into a desolate, sketchy-looking road under a railway bridge. The other two were also asking, "Are you sure?"
After a while, the path opened up, and I could see a large crowd of people gathered, accompanied by a thumping bass.
Then, in the center of the crowd, there was Little Simz, and she was actually performing a rave.

It seems this rave is held for free with the sentiment: "It's not good for the future of the music industry if young people can't go to clubs because of the high cost of living. We want to provide a place where they can have fun cheaply." The details of the event can only be obtained by contacting the organizers directly, and in this age of highly developed social media, that extra effort feels fresh and a bit nostalgic, like the raves of the past.
By the way, this was the third time it had been held, but it became such a hot topic that it was chosen as one of "The best London club nights" in a certain British newspaper shortly after, and its existence became known to many people.
So, with that said, Little Simz's new album is very good.
