JW765 Regarding the Land of So
[Chikushi Reconquest Arc] Episode 20: Regarding the Land of So
The reign of the 12th Emperor, Emperor Keiko.
97 AD, Imperial Year 757 (27th year of Emperor Keiko).
Having pacified the Kumaso of the Land of So (present-day Kagoshima Prefecture), the party of Yamato Takeru (hereafter, Takeru) traveled around Chikushi (present-day Kyushu).

Takeru (16): "So, where are we?"
Chijio: "Shall we rest first?"
Takeru (16): "Is this, by any chance, a legend?"
Chijio: "Indeed."
Una: "Come, Prince. Please, have a seat here."
Takeru (16): "On this rock?"
Una: "Indeed."
Takeru (16): "Is... is this alright?"
Nakka: "Yay! With this, the legend is established!"
Takeru (16): "Hmm?"
Otohiko: "The rock will later come to be called the 'Sitting Stone,' and a shrine will be built on this land."
Yocchan: "It is the Shiratori Shrine. The deity enshrined there is you, Prince."
Takeru (16): "Splendid!"

Toyokuni: "A... and, does the stone stool still remain?"
Mochi: "Well, it's more like... it remains."
Takeru (16): "Hmm?"
Mochi: "It seems a shrine was built on top of the rock."
Takeru (16): "I see..."
Toyokuni: "And where is it enshrined?"
Yocchan: "It is located in Izakida, Ariake-cho, Shibushi City, Kagoshima Prefecture."

Takeru (16): "Alright! Now that we've recovered from our fatigue, let's head to the next location!"
Tago: "And where to next?"
Takeru (16): "In episode 662, I decided to head to Takaya Shrine, which my father founded."

Tago: "Are you going to make that your temporary palace?"
Takeru (16): "That is correct."
Otohiko: "I believe it was on the way there, but it seems you also stayed at Ise Shrine to pray for peace in the world?"

Takeru (16): "That is correct."
Una: "The deity enshrined, as the name suggests, is Amaterasu Omikami."
Toyokuni: "And where is it enshrined?"
Hayate: "Moo!"
Takeru (16): "Hmm. It says it is in Nozaki, Kimotsuki Town."

Nakka: "After that, you headed to Takaya Shrine, right?"
Takeru (16): "The author said that was the flow of events."
Nakka: "I see..."
Mochi: "And so, 'we' arrived at Takaya Shrine."
Yocchan: "The site of the shrine is in the northern part of Kimotsuki Town."

Tago: "From here, you went on to bring peace to the people of the Land of So, didn't you?"
Takeru (16): "That is correct."
Thus, Takeru, having brought peace to the people, was set to return, but...
Otohiko: "First, we returned to the Land of Himuka (present-day Miyazaki Prefecture)."
Mochi: "It's a story from that time."
Takeru (16): "Hmm?"
Una: "Come now! Prince! Please bury the sword."
Takeru (16): "U... um. You mean I should bury the hilt of the sword I used when I made my vow to defeat the Kumaso?"

Nakka: "There was never a scene where we made a vow, was there?"
Mochi: "This is what romance is all about!"
Takeru (16): "There it is. Romance!"
Yocchan: "It is also said that the Prince buried the short sword he used to stab the Kumaso."
Takeru (16): "Anyway, let's bury it and build a mound!"
Mochi: "And so, a shrine was built on top of the mound."
Una: "It is Kentsuka Inari Shrine."

Tago: "By the way, the enshrined deities are the first Emperor, Jimmu, his mother, Tamayori-hime, and his older brother, Inahi-no-mikoto."
Takeru (16): "And where is it enshrined?"
Otohiko: "It is in Honjo, Kunitomi Town, Miyazaki Prefecture."

Toyokuni: "Brother-in-law? I do not understand."
Takeru (16): "You cannot accept it?"
Toyokuni: "Indeed."
Takeru (16): "What do you mean?"
What could it mean?
