Trying out books recommended by AI
My husband and I have completely different tastes in books, but since a book I was recommended before turned out to be interesting, I got carried away and bought another recommendation, only for it to be not interesting at all. This is Tamaki.
I haven't been able to find any books I want to read lately, so I asked ChatGPT, whom I trust deeply, for some book recommendations.
The way I asked was very simple.
1. List 10 books that I like
2. Have it recommend books based on the trends of the books I listed
By the way, the 10 books I listed are as follows:
1. Kami of Slow Heights / Mizuki Tsujimura
2. The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God in a Coin Locker / Kotaro Isaka
3. Even If You Die / Natsuhiko Kyogoku
4. Gravity Clown / Kotaro Isaka
5. A Not A-kun to / Gaku Yakumaru
6. Torikago / Yume Tsujido
7. Guernica in the Dark / Maha Harada
8. Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World / Haruki Murakami
9. Ikiru Bokura / Maha Harada
10. Kamakura Station 8 Minutes Walk, Vacancy Available / Tsukiko Ochi
Actually, I have so many other books I love, but I narrowed it down very carefully.
And from those books, the AI derived three trends in the books I like.
1. Psychological "distortions" and the dark side of humanity
2. Quiet unease, between reality and unreality
3. Kindness and a sense of daily life, stories about "living with someone"
And it recommended the following 10 books.
1. Night Train / Tomihiko Morimi
2. Sea of the Library / Riku Onda
3. Sparks / Shusuke Shizukui
4. Voice / Shunichi Doba
5. White Rabbit / Kotaro Isaka
6. The Great Passage / Shion Miura
7. Thread of Hope / Keigo Higashino
8. The Centennial Law / Muneki Yamada
9. Convenience Store Woman / Sayaka Murata
10. The Back of the Moon / Riku Onda
I have read Convenience Store Woman, and it is one of my favorite works too!
Riku Onda is one of my favorite authors, and I'm excited and nervous because I don't know any of the other authors.
I'm not a fan of Tomihiko Morimi's writing style, so I'm not sure what to do... lol
(Wait, 'The Back of the Moon' is the one my ex-boyfriend recommended to me...)
I've decided to buy from this list next year. I'm a very slow reader, so I think I'll be able to enjoy them for quite a while.
Have any of you read any of these books?
I hope to summarize my thoughts on them on Note as well, though I don't know when that will be.
