I have failed with eye cream, that is, cream for the eye area, before.

I once had a terrifying experience where, because I was too busy to go buy eye cream and just stopped applying it, the area around my eyes became covered in wrinkles.

Since then, every time I go to a drugstore, I look for eye cream and have been careful not to run out.

As an extension of that, last month, when I stopped by the Gotemba Premium Outlets during a hot spring trip to Lake Kawaguchi, I bought two tubes of a well-regarded isoflavone eye cream that was being sold at Plaza.

However, that isoflavone eye cream is quite inexpensive, even though it says it is for aging care, perhaps because it is aimed at younger people.

Compared to the eye cream in the established cosmetics corner of my usual drugstore, it is a fraction of the price.

I thought that since Plaza's customer base is young girls, they stock products for young people, and there might be a more expensive, higher-age-targeted aging care eye cream of this isoflavone brand itself.

This line of thinking was the root of this failure.

While browsing a Black Friday sale on a certain online shop, I suddenly felt like searching for eye cream.

And then, there it was.

A high-priced isoflavone aging care eye cream.

It said there were only two left in stock.
I have to hurry.
I hurriedly put it in my cart and pressed the purchase button.

A few days later, the long-awaited, high-priced isoflavone eye cream arrived at my home.

I was happy and was looking at the product when I noticed something strange.

Even though the amount I paid was XX yen, on the back of the package, one-fifth of that price was printed.

???

Did the online shop send me the wrong product by mistake?
However, the product name is correct, and the purchase price is also correct.

???

When I looked at the online shop's website again, I saw a note next to the product image explaining that it was a discontinued product no longer being sold.

Only then did I finally realize that I had made a mistake.

This item was priced at five times its original value for people who desperately wanted a product that was no longer being sold.

The isoflavone anti-aging eye cream for older users was a phantom product.

I was just disappointed in my own rashness.
I suffered a ridiculous loss.
If I had just calmed down and read the product description a little better, I could have avoided this mistake.

I doubt anyone else is as scatterbrained as I am, but just in case, please be careful, everyone.

Well, that was the failure, but there was salvation afterward.

A few days later, my family went out for a meal to celebrate my birthday, and
at the table, my daughter gave mean eye cream from a certain brandas a birthday present.
"It was expensive, so this also counts as your Christmas present,"
she said, being her usual shrewd self, but for me at that moment, it was the best gift of all—a present happier than anything else.

In the end, I use the expensive isoflavone eye cream I bought in the morning,
and I use the eye cream my daughter gave me at night.

My mother used to say this often, butfailures are the cost of learningindeed.
As I get older, I may not be able to avoid various mistakes, but I intend to take them as positively as possible.
