I am an actress, and on April 1st, I will transform into a middle-aged man with glasses
Hello, I am an actress.
My stage name is Panda Gorogoro.
I hate to say it myself, but I am a beautiful actress who possesses both popularity and talent.
For the past few years, I have been working day in and day out, and I have been so busy that I have always had to fight off sleepiness.
Memorizing lines, going to meetings, and being interviewed for newspapers and magazines,
I have nothing but work, even outside of filming.
I have absolutely no time to relax, and my only free time is spent eating and sleeping.
One day, I felt empty.
Is this the kind of life I wanted?
Even though I achieved my dream of becoming an actress, why am I not happy?
I made up my mind and went directly to the president of my agency to ask them to turn down my work offers.
I told them I wanted to live a human life for just two months.
The president said it would be a waste to take a break now that I have finally become popular and in high demand, but my manager persuaded them.
They argued that if I continued working in this state, I would burn out, and that my value as an actress would drop due to accumulated fatigue.
As a result, I was able to get a break with a two-month time limit.

Yes, that was a delusion.
Since I fell at work and fractured my left knee, I have been living a life of luxury under the doctor's orders to "don't move, don't stand," sleeping ten hours a day, eating three proper meals, and just reading books.
However, when this unfamiliar state of luxury continues, I start to feel anxious, thinking,
"Is it really okay for me to be doing nothing every single day..."
and that makes me uneasy.
In the first place, the doctor initially told me it would be two weeks of rest and two months for a full recovery.
Then, when I had an X-ray taken in the second week, it turned out that the bone had only half-healed, and I was told I needed another two weeks of rest.
I had been convinced that I would have my cast removed and start rehabilitation from tomorrow,
so I ended up in a state where I had nowhere to direct my feelings.
Thankfully, my husband, my children, and my company all told me to take it easy and focus on my recovery.
“Yay, the life of luxury returns!”
I felt a mix of
“Wait, is this really okay?”
and, but either way, I have no choice but to sit on the bed, keep my left leg as still as possible, and read books.
It was when I was feeling so conflicted that I remembered something.
In times like these, use your imagination!
Someone once said that.
(I forgot who, sorry.)
When you're stuck, you should just use your imagination.
That's right, I am an actress who has been working too hard, so I've temporarily cut back on work to escape the public eye and live as I please.
Because I'm a bit too popular (ho ho ho), I can't just casually go to a cafe, so I'm holed up in a house my manager rented for me.
I live with two people: a tight-lipped nanny and a very attentive maid.
These two spoil me so much that they won't even let me help with a single kitchen chore.
“Please, Panda-sama, just sit down.”“That's right, as Nanny says, Goro-goro-sama. You've been working without a break for so long.”
“If you sleep plenty, eat well, and just relax by reading your books, you'll feel better.”
“Thank you both for being so thoughtful...”
“Think nothing of it.”
“Now, Goro-goro-sama, I will bring you a new book.”
On the cover of the book the maid handed me was an illustration of a middle-aged man wearing glasses.
Seeing that, I felt like I had forgotten something very important.
“Hey, Nanny, is there something I've forgotten?”“Something you've forgotten? What could it be?”
“Shall I bring Goro-goro-sama's planner?”
“Thank you, would you?”
“Certainly.”
There were no entries in the March pages of the planner the maid brought me.
When I opened the April page,
“This is it, I remember now. It's Bespectacled Middle-Aged Man Day!”

“A... bespectacled middle-aged man, you say?”
“That's right, April 1st is called [Bespectacled Middle-Aged Man Day], and all of us actresses transform into bespectacled middle-aged men. Of course, men can do it too, and I hear that lately, people in professions other than acting are participating as well. So, you two can become bespectacled middle-aged men too.”
The nanny and the maid looked at each other, and then,
“Well then, Nanny, shall we participate too?”
“I wonder how we should go about it...”“I will ask Goro-goro-sama and teach you, Nanny. Right, Goro-goro-sama?”
“That's right, my actress friends Kuuma-san and Ayachinkofu-chan have written down the detailed steps. I'll send them to your smartphone, so please read them with Nanny.”
