Dandara for Glasses Uncle Day
Hello, this is Panda Gorogoro.
Today is April 1st, Glasses Uncle Day.
My icon has also changed perfectly into a glasses-wearing uncle just for today.
(The rule is to change it back by tomorrow 👓)
Now, regarding the Dandara in the title, it is a form of haiku where the middle seven-syllable line carries a double meaning, specifically focusing on the seven part.
It is a short poetic form of haiku that was once very popular in Wajima on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, mainly among lacquerware craftsmen, and is a wordplay that enjoys the double structure of language.
I first learned of its existence in the Asahi Shimbun's 'Vox Populi, Vox Dei' column on February 22nd.
