It's usually me who's wrong

You often hear people say things like, "Question common sense."
I feel like it's often used when encouraging a change in perspective or when trying to overturn stereotypes.

But you know, I realized something while driving my car recently.
That this is not the time to be questioning common sense.

That morning, the sun was shining brightly, so the road and the cars were reflecting light, making it very dazzling and difficult to drive.
"They should just make the road color something that doesn't reflect light, or use materials that don't reflect light."
"In this day and age, with all our technological progress, they should be able to do that."
"Oncoming cars are reflecting light too, making it hard to drive!"
"They need to advance self-driving technology more."
I was driving along, cursing in my heart like this, when I suddenly realized.

(...Wait, I have sunglasses.)

I usually keep a pair of sunglasses hooked onto my car's sun visor.
I drive west when I head home, so the setting sun is blindingly bright.
My wife got them for me because I'm always driving while saying, "It's so bright! I can't see!"

The glare from the road and the light reflected from oncoming cars were perfectly blocked.
If I had just worn the sunglasses from the start, I could have driven without any unnecessary complaints or stress.I'm sure of it.

All of this is because of

My own fixed idea is to blame.
Setting aside my own fixed ideas, how uncool I was to complain to the government and manufacturers, sayingdo something about the roadsordo something about the cars.

I should first ask myself if I am being bound by my own fixed ideas and assumptions.
