Day 20: Busyness is not productivity
When you are working,
there are moments when being busy
feels like a good thing.
Your schedule is full.
Work keeps coming in one after another.
There is no time to rest.
Sometimes,
you might mistake that state
for being fulfilled.
But really,
is busyness the same as productivity?
Even if you are moving all day,
it is not rare for important work
to remain stagnant.
Conversely,
there are days when a single task
makes great progress during quiet time.
Busyness only represents
the volume of work,
not the results achieved.
The more appointments you have,
the more decisions you have to make.
The more decisions you make,
the more fatigue accumulates.
If that state continues,
the time available for focus
will decrease.
That is why, sometimes,
you should try reducing your schedule.
Reduce meetings.
Create some breathing room.
By doing so,
time to quietly engage
with a single task
will emerge.
There is no need
to make being busy your goal.
What is important
is that work is progressing quietly.
