What people seeking healing really want
Many people seek healing.
However, I do not believe that what people truly want is healing itself.
Then what are they seeking?
I believe it is mental space.
I think those who seek healing are people whose hearts are tired in various ways.
This is not limited to those who have experienced a major event.
Daily human relationships, work, family, one's own roles, and anxiety about the future.
These things accumulate little by little, and the heart becomes tired.
And when the heart becomes tired, people seek healing.
But at that time, I believe what they really want is not some special answer or dramatic change, but for a little bit of mental space to return.
I consider healing and problem-solving to be completely different things.
Even if a problem is solved, if the heart is tired, people will still seek healing.
This is because even if a problem is solved and the causes of mental fatigue decrease, the fatigue that has already accumulated does not disappear immediately.
Therefore, it is not the case that things end just because a problem is gone.
If the heart is tired, something else is needed to let it rest.
Then why is it that people sometimes do not feel healed even when they seek healing?
I think one of the major reasons for this is the busyness of one's thoughts.
One is constantly thinking about something.
I should have done this, I should have done that.
What should I do from now on?
What is the other person thinking?
Am I wrong?
In a state where the mind cannot rest like that, it is difficult for mental space to be created.
In other words, I believe that the reason one is not healed is not because something is missing, but because one is thinking too much and the heart cannot rest.
Then, what does it mean to be truly healed?
I do not believe it is just about feeling lighter.
A state where there is mental space, one can grasp the sensations of one's own heart, and one can view things objectively.
I believe that is the state of being truly healed.
When there is mental space, people do not corner themselves more than necessary.
They are not swallowed by emotions and can view the events in front of them from a slight distance.
Conversely, when there is no space, one reacts strongly to small things, loses touch with one's own feelings, or takes things more heavily than necessary.
That is why I think people seek healing.
I do not think that seeking healing is a bad thing.
Rather, it is because it means that one's heart is properly signaling its limits.
I think that simply perceiving that seeking healing is a sign that one is running out of mental space makes it a little easier to understand what state one is in now.
When seeking healing, people might appear to be wanting something special.
But in reality, I think the heart is just asking for a rest.
Therefore, you do not need to think of yourself as weak for seeking healing.
It is not that you are failing, but simply that your heart needs rest.
I believe that realizing this is the first important step.
So, how can one regain mental space?
I would like to write about that as a separate topic.
