An Unplanned Turning Point
I'm participating in Coffee Jiro-san's project for the first time in a while.
"Marriage is the XX of life"... I thought long and hard about what that could be, and concluded it might be a "turning point."
Around the time I started working, I was in a position where I thought I didn't need to get married. Part of it was being chased by work every day, but I was also fully enjoying my days off alone with afternoon tea and travel. I thought, why wouldn't life be satisfying enough with friends, even without a partner?
Because I was thinking that way, my husband's existence was unplanned. I was always wearing no makeup, pants, and had a very short hairstyle, dressing in a "boyish" way, so I never expected someone to appear who would see me as a romantic interest!
As I wrote in a previous Coffee Jiro-san project about the "deciding factor for marriage," according to my husband, it was because my "face is his type," which was news to me and surprised me when I wrote that note.
Why are there so many unexpected and unplanned things? That said, I've never been surprised by him in daily life. He's not that type, but he lightly exceeds my expectations in unexpected moments.
Not much has changed drastically since we got married. I still love my alone time, and I'm grateful that he leaves me to my own devices in a good way. If I had to say, I've just realized that I might like my husband even more now than I did while we were dating.
I think the cliché "marriage is the graveyard of life" comes from expecting too much from the other person. The more you expect, the more disappointed you are when it doesn't match up. I can understand why it would feel like a "graveyard" if that continues. I hope we can continue to walk forward, supporting each other without expecting too much from ourselves or each other.
I'm very curious about everyone's notes! Coffee Jiro-san, thank you for another wonderful topic.
