Is There Sound Inside Silence? (Ep.15 | Hikaru Museum)

“…Hey, Dad.
This place sounds different from before.”

Today, Teru and his family came to one of the quietest rooms in the Hikari Museum.

It’s not like the painting rooms from earlier.
Here, voices and footsteps feel like they’re gently swallowed by the space.

A big room.
A high ceiling.
Cool air.

Without thinking, Teru lowered his voice.

👂 Hearing things that aren’t making noise

“It’s so quiet,”
Mom whispered.

Teru tilted his head.

“No… I hear something.”

When he listened carefully,
he heard his shoes touching the floor,
his clothes brushing as he moved,
and the feeling of someone far away shifting.

“I thought there was no sound,
but when I really listen, there’s a lot.”

Dad nodded.
“That’s right. Sound isn’t only something you make.”

🏛 Places where sound echoes—and disappears

Walking through the wide hall,
the sound felt different in each spot.

In one place, footsteps went tap.
In another, the same steps just faded away.

Teru walked slowly, one step at a time,
testing the sounds.

“This place feels like the mountains.”
“And here… like a cave!”

It felt like the building itself
was making sounds—or hiding them.

🤫 When it’s quiet, you notice more

They sat down on a bench for a short rest.

No one talked.
They just sat—

and suddenly, Teru noticed
the way light came in,
the movement of the air,
even his own breathing.

“Mom…
my head feels kind of clear now.”

Mom smiled softly.
“When it’s quiet, your heart gets quiet too.”

A museum isn’t only a place to look at things.

Even doing nothing for a while
can be an important experience.

Teru felt like he understood that, just a little.

🌈 Today’s notes
• Even without sound, you can hear presence if you listen
• Sound changes depending on the place
• Quiet time helps your heart settle down

On the way home, Teru said quietly,

“I think… I kind of like being quiet.”

🌟 Next time

Next, it’s adventure time again!

Tunnels, open spaces, light and shadow—
they’ll explore the museum building itself.

“This place is like a maze!”
Teru’s excitement starts moving again.
