Why Is This Spot Shining? (Ep.28 | Hikaru Museum)

One evening,
as we were walking toward the station.

The sunset reflected off a glass building,
and a long, thin stripe of light
fell across the sidewalk.

Teru suddenly stopped.

“Hey… why is it shining right here?”

For a moment,
I tried to answer—
and no words came out.

Glass.
Angle.
The sun.

I could probably explain it.

But what Teru was looking at
wasn’t the reason.
It was the wonder.

The underground tunnel at the Light Museum.
The high ceiling.
The places where the shadows suddenly grew darker.

Back then too,
Teru had stopped
with the very same expression.

“This feels different from before.”

Not really to anyone—
more like he was talking
to the space itself.

Buildings aren’t just boxes.
The way light enters.
The way sound echoes.
Even the speed of your steps can change.

Adults call that “structure.”
Children just feel it.

“The tunnel at the museum was shiny too.”

When I said that,
Teru nodded happily.

“Yeah. I liked that place.”

He didn’t explain why.
But he clearly remembered.

To “remember” a building
isn’t about its shape—
it’s about the air you felt inside it.

Wherever Teru goes next,
whatever building he enters,
he’ll probably stop again.

And ask the same thing.

“Why is it shining here?”

Each time,
the world becomes
just a little more three-dimensional.
