💗 [Useful Features] Things to Remember When Writing Articles [note Strategy]
Greetings, everyone.
For those meeting me for the first time, here is my self-introduction. I would be happy if you could take a quick look at it.
By reading this article, you will understand:
How to improve your article writing efficiency
9 Markdown notations you can use on note
Bonus: How to add furigana (ruby characters)
You will learn about these three things.
Now, let's get into the main topic.
💗 What is Markdown notation?
On note, you can use formatting like headings and text emphasis. I assume you use these as a matter of course when writing articles.
Markdown notation sounds complicated, but simply put, it's a way to handle formatting using text.
However, there are 11 Markdown notations that can be used on note. I hear there are actually many more, but since some functions overlap, there are effectively 9.
💗 Formatting available on note
First, let's look at the formatting supported by note.
Large Heading
Small Heading
Separator Line
Quote
Code
Bullet points
Numbered lists
Text emphasis
Strikethrough
Links
You probably use these formats when writing articles regularly. But it's a hassle to operate them with a mouse every time, isn't it? That's where Markdown notation comes in.
However, only the "Links" at the bottom are not supported.
I wonder why they aren't supported? It would be convenient if links could also be written using Markdown notation. Well, setting that aside, let's move on.
💗 Formatting with Markdown notation
Now, let's try writing the formats other than links using Markdown notation.
It's surprisingly easy, right? Once you learn it, it's extremely convenient, so I really want you to remember it.
You should open the article writing screen and try it along with me.
Also, I'll say this first.All Markdown notation must be in half-width characters.
And, the part written as [space] means a half-width space. Understand this in advance.
1) Large Heading
##[スペース]If you type two sharps and then a space, I think it will switch to large heading input.
2) Small Heading
###[スペース]Large headings use two sharps, but small headings use three. The rest is the same as large headings, I suppose.
3) Divider Line
---This is just lining up three hyphens (minus signs). Simple, right?
4) Quote
>[スペース]You know what a quote is, right? It looks like the following.
On your keyboard, you can type this symbol by pressing "Shift + period", I believe.
This is a quote
5) Code
```I think code is probably for writing programs. And, the thing I've been using to explain Markdown syntax is code.
On your keyboard, it's "Shift + @". You don't use this symbol very often, so it might be unfamiliar. If you type three of these in a row, it switches to code input.
6) Bulleted list
*[スペース]
または
-[スペース]I think you'll use this often.
You can use either an asterisk or a hyphen.
This is a bulleted list
7) Numbered list
1.[スペース]Numbered list
This is one
Well, it's the one above, but actually, I don't use it very much. Anyway, it switches when you type 1, a period, and then a space.
8) Text emphasis
**強調したい文字**[スペース]
または
__強調したい文字__[スペース]Text emphasis is this. You surround the text with two asterisks or two underscores, followed by a space. Personally, I find asterisks easier to use.
It's not Markdown, but there is another way to emphasize text.
That is a shortcut. Select the text you want to emphasize and press "Shift + B" to emphasize it. It's the same as in Office Word.
9) Strikethrough
~~取り消し線にしたい文字~~[スペース]A strikethrough is this, right? I wonder if this symbol is called a tilde. On the keyboard... I'm not sure how to explain it.
It's the key to the left of the yen symbol, and I think you can get a tilde by pressing "Shift + ^". For a strikethrough, surround the text with two tildes and add a space.
10) Bonus: "Adding Ruby"
I suspect many people don't actually know about this feature. By the way, it's not Markdown syntax. And it's quite difficult to use.
You know what ruby is, right? It's like furigana. I just used it now, and I'll teach you how.
It's just really hard to use.
First, you type the pipe symbol |. You can type it with "Shift + ¥" (it seems to work with both full-width and half-width). Follow that by writing the actual text or kanji.
The end is tricky. You write the ruby here, but you have to use full-width double angle brackets. There are several similar brackets, which is confusing. I recommend registering them in your dictionary if you can.
《 》 ← You can just copy and paste these.
If you write the above in an actual article, it would look like this.
Characters to add ruby to
If you apply it, you can also do things like "like this".
It's surprisingly fun, so I hope you make use of it. Even though it's a hassle.
💗 Summary
Although we strayed from Markdown syntax at the end, I think it's a pretty useful feature. I definitely hope you make use of it.
I'll summarize it one more time for you.
Large Heading ##[space]
Small Heading ###[space]
Separator Line ---
Quote >[space]
Code ``` (three Shift + @)
Bullet Points -[space] or *[space]
Numbered list 1. [space]
Text emphasis **text** [space] or __text__ [space]
Strikethrough ~~text~~ [space]
Ruby characters text(actually use |)
