Relaxed Time: Forgotten Happiness
It is almost July.
The word rainy season is...
how should I put it...
It is just so hot that
I think it is already midsummer!
That is what I end up thinking.
I wonder how hot August will be.
And speaking of summer, there is summer vacation.
I remember how I couldn't wait for it
when I was a child.
I didn't like school, so
I wanted to spend my time relaxing at home.
Well, it's not that I didn't like school,
it's just that I hate being tied down.
For the same reason, I hate working too.
In truth,
I suppose I should just be self-employed.
But you know...
That sounds exhausting in its own way,
and I feel like I might lose my mind,
so I think I'm fine being a carefree corporate slave.
By the way,
if someone asked you, 'What is happiness to you?'
would you be able to answer immediately?
I wonder if you could answer right away.
It's fine if you can answer immediately, but if you can't,
you should take a look at yourself again.
Because you see,
everyone definitely has it,
they just haven't noticed it yet.
Some people find happiness
in the moments of everyday life.
Others surely find happiness
in laughing with their family.
What about you, Kaze-san?
As for me,
I think being able to live a normal life
is happiness.
What was happiness like when we were children?
Take summer, for example.
Having lots of time off
and being able to play every day
was incredibly happy,
though I think some people
worried about their homework as summer vacation neared its end.
Why is it that schoolwork
is so good at draining one's motivation?
Well, that's beside the point.
When we were children,
we surely felt happiness
even in the smallest things.
Well, even if we didn't
think of it directly as happiness,
it was so much fun
that we surely wished
it would last forever.
Yet, when we become adults,
we forget that feeling.
So,
just as there is the phrase
to return to one's childhood heart,
why not try to evoke
those feelings from back then once more?
P.S.
When you become an adult,
you have more financial freedom, but your freedom of time
decreases absolutely.
If I had the same financial power as I do now
and plenty of time,
I could focus only on what I want to do.
If that were to happen,
it might be
the pinnacle of happiness for me.
