💖 [Important] Love at first sight?
Do you know what a catchphrase is?
It's a short sentence often used in advertisements.
Why am I writing about this, you ask?
Well, obviously, because it's useful on note as well.
When it comes to catchphrases on note, we're talking about article titles, right?
Well, you can apply it elsewhere too, but I don't feel like teaching you that much.
Here is the menu for today.
💖 Reasons why you need a catchphrase
Do you think you don't need a catchphrase?
Honestly, that way of thinking is ridiculous.
It's difficult to express greatness in a single word.
That is precisely why you need an attractive phrase that draws many people in.
I suppose someone as stubborn as you wouldn't understand.
A catchphrase is an important tool for maximizing the appeal of a product's value.
I want words that make people fall in love at first sight.
💖 Copywriting techniques
Just like sales letters, there are established copywriting techniques for this too.
Interrogative method - A technique using questions
Contrast - A technique using contrasting words
Repetition - A technique of repeating keywords
Implication - A technique of intentionally using ambiguous expressions
Exclamation - A technique using exclamatory expressions
Hyperbole - A technique of exaggerating facts
Narrative - A technique of adding a small story element
This time, I'm going to explain these seven, including examples.
Though, since these are examples thought up by crazy me, take them as a reference.
💎 Interrogative
I wonder if it's a method of using questions. I use it sometimes too.
In the first place, the title of this article is one, isn't it?
I'll write down a few other examples as well.
"What is a drink that is surprisingly gentle on the body?"
"Is it true that I can listen to all my favorite music as much as I want?"
It surprisingly attracts people, doesn't it? This technique. I recommend it.
💎 Contrast
This is a technique of combining opposite words. I'm not very good at it, perhaps.
"Filling yet healthy"
"A rich taste that is even more refreshing"
"Sophistication and cuteness"
In the first place, I don't think it fits my articles.
💎 Repetition Method
You repeat keywords, but it's actually quite difficult.
"Connecting smiles with smiles"
"More honest, more like me"
The second one might be surprisingly easy to use. It seems like I could create various things if I change what comes after "more".
💎 Implication Method
The point is to make people associate, but this is also hard to use effectively.
"Time just for me"
"A moment from the heart"
"In your colors"
Honestly, you don't know what it's trying to say, right?
But maybe it feels good when combined with the final storytelling method.
💎 Exclamation Method
To admire and praise. It means exclamation.
I don't think I like it very much.
"What a comfortable ride"
"This is the real writing experience"
It feels a bit like a corporate catchphrase, and it's not catchy to me.
💎 Hyperbole Method
You know what exaggeration means, right? It's talking about things in an over-the-top way.
I wonder if this is used occasionally. Like calling something 'cheat-level' or 'broken'.
'That radiance is something all the jewels in the world cannot hold a candle to.'
'The greatest comfort in history.'
Well, even if you don't take it as a sentence, it might be good to put it in brackets at the beginning of the title.
💎 Storytelling Method
'That encounter on that day changed my life.'
Another one is an existing, incredibly famous catchphrase.
'They laughed when I sat down at the piano. But when I started to play...'
It was written by the American copywriter John Caples.
It's from the early 1900s.
However, it has changed form and is still widely used today.
In a modern style, the point is to use it in combination with the implication method, I suppose.
'I spoke my true feelings. And then, cheers erupted.'
However, it's quite difficult to use this as an article title.
💖 Summary
I write 'summary' every time, but there's nothing really to summarize, is there?
But, you kind of want a summary, don't you?
I really wish someone would teach me a technique for writing summaries.
