Happy and Joyful While Eating Onigiri
Today, the sky is clear and blue.
The cherry blossoms near the office seem to have already skipped past the 20% or 30% bloom stage in the blink of an eye, and are now nearly 90% in bloom.
That's fast... at this rate, they'll be in full bloom soon. If I'm not careful, they might scatter before I know it.

I drove to a nearby convenience store to buy lunch. When I returned, the gentleman in the parking space next to mine called out, 'Nennen-san, make sure you eat your lunch properly.'
I replied, 'Of course I will,' and when I went to sit in the corner of the parking lot thinking, 'Maybe I'll eat while looking at the cherry blossoms,' he said, 'Sit behind my light truck,' and opened the tailgate to make an impromptu bench for me.
I thanked him and sat on the makeshift bench, stuffing my cheeks with onigiri. I was momentarily concerned about getting a sunburn, but I wanted to soak up the sun and feel warm inside.
The gentleman started a conversation, saying, 'The times are changing so fast.'
Back in the day, we had flip phones. Now, it feels like we're carrying computers around with us. This has all happened in just the last few years.
I nodded and said, 'That's true.'
Actually, by coincidence, I've been having conversations about how 'the times are changing fast' with other people lately. Though, it's just two people: my calligraphy teacher, S-sensei, and my mother-in-law. They are both in their 60s or 70s.
They say the times are changing so fast that they can't keep up.
I certainly think it's fast.
Even I have things I can't keep up with, or things I don't feel like keeping up with.
Even so, it's interesting. It's interesting to be living my life in these changing times.
So, let's enjoy it.
Sitting behind a light truck eating lunch during a break from work today. Happy and joyful.
The onigiri I bought was a new product, and it was delicious. Happy and joyful.
Even when the wind blows and the cherry blossoms sway, the petals don't fall yet. Maybe they don't fall yet because they were just born. I feel happy and joyful thinking about things like that.
A bird flies by, riding the wind without flapping its wings. Maybe it caught the wind just right; happy and joyful.
I munched on my onigiri, felt warm and cozy, and my lunch break ended.
Now then, what kind of happy and joyful things will tomorrow bring?
