Teens to 60s: 'What is the Greatest Weapon?'
I'm Katosato, and lately, listening to the audio app Voicy during my spare time and administrative work has become a habit.
Among them, I am a particularly heavy listener of the Voicy channel delivered daily by Akihiro Nishino of King Kong. It is very encouraging to hear about the processes and results of his initiatives, which are based on ideas that would have been unthinkable under previous values.
Above all, he is a great storyteller, and it is both an educational and enjoyable time.
There is a philosophy that Nishino-san mentioned that I felt was spot on, so I would like to share it here as well.
It is a discussion about 'What must we possess in each era?' and 'What is the greatest weapon in each era?' in order to survive this life.
As for what is the greatest weapon from your teens to your 60s,
in your teens, it's 'friends',
in your 20s, it's 'stamina',
in your 30s, it's 'skills',
in your 40s, it's 'connections',
in your 50s, it's 'health',
and in your 60s, it's 'charm'
.
Teens: 'Friends'
It doesn't have to be just school life, club activities, or part-time jobs. They can be friends you met through online games or friends you met in a club team. If you only think about living through your teens, it's more fun to be blessed with these.
20s: 'Stamina'
Your professional life begins in this era, but since you have no skills at first and can barely use the knowledge you learned in school, you have no choice but to cover it with 'quantity'. It is important to say, 'I can't produce quality yet, so I will cover it with quantity.' In work, play, and every challenge, stamina becomes a major weapon. Gaining a lot of experience during this period when you can push yourself a little will be useful later in life.
30s: 'Skills'
From here on, it becomes a game that only those who have run through their 20s by handling 'quantity' can participate in, but in your 30s, it is definitely 'skills'. Of course, the 'youth bonus' is gone, and you have no choice but to make your presence felt through 'skills'. 'Skills' here include not only professional skills but also how to build relationships and problem-solving abilities. By honing solid expertise during this period, your subsequent career will become stable.
40s: 'Connections'
This is the era where those who have achieved results connect with each other (sharing lucrative opportunities among themselves) and leap to a higher stage all at once (exponentially).
50s: 'Health'
During this period when your physical strength begins to decline, being conscious of your diet, exercise, and sleep, and maintaining your health becomes your greatest weapon. Being energetic is the foundation for enjoying your work and hobbies.
60s: 'Charm'
If you don't have charm in your 60s, it's over. You become a 'meeting place' for entrepreneurs in their 40s and 50s. It seems there is a saying from a 60-year-old entrepreneur that the ability required for a meeting place is 'charm', and 'what value does a 60-year-old without charm have?'
Summary
With AI on the rise recently, there is an atmosphere that everything can be done through systematization, but I feel that is not the case.
Ultimately, it is 'people' who make decisions.
No matter the era, it always matters 'who' said it.
Let's focus on and utilize the weapons unique to each generation to become attractive 'people'.
I will also continue to strive for improvement.
