[#41 Happy Writing Marathon] If you could give advice to your 10-years-younger self, what would you say?
I was so busy enjoying life that I didn't really take the time to think about things like when I would get married and have children, or when I would own a home; I just lived in the moment.
I didn't really think about things like when I would get married and have children,
or when I would own a home,
I didn't really take the time to think about it,
I just lived in the moment.
I saw my friends holding their babies
and I wanted children too.
But I wasn't blessed with any.
But I wasn't blessed with any.
When everyone around me started buying homes in Hawaii,
we built an apartment in Brazil.
Whether those things were good or not
is something no one but me would know
unless they measured it by society's standards.
In life, there are things you can gain through effort,
and things you cannot.
Looking back now,
I feel that everything was just fine the way it was.
I feel that each and every experience
was a learning opportunity
that led me to who I am today.
Even the heart-wrenching pain and sadness
are not things that last forever,
but things that soften and heal
with the passage of time,
and I have come to realize this as I have grown older.
The impression of the words
“Sadness is not forever”
written in books
is completely different now compared to 10 years ago.
Someone once said that to taste the depth of life,
you must expand your own capacity.
I think so too.
I think so too.
I would never want to tell my 10-years-younger self anything
to keep her from falling,
or to keep her from getting hurt.
I would never want to do that.
I think she should just live as she is
and experience everything to the fullest.
That is where the beauty of life lies.
That is all I want to tell her.
Life is beautiful
From the me of today, who feels that every day,
to the me of 10 years ago.
