Early Summer Notice
Is there anything you've bought that you're glad you did?
That's what it said.
Those were the words from Note today when I came here.
(By the way, I don't remember yesterday or the day before at all)
Just today, I went to buy flowers for the Buddhist altar.
Then, I saw a huge amount of sunflowers, and it felt like they were gently illuminating my heart.
I'm not very knowledgeable about flower names or flowers themselves, and even when I do buy them occasionally, I'm the type who lets them wither right away.
Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers.
They make me happy when I see them.
When I was talking to the clerk, they said that the peak season for sunflowers is already late, so they aren't around much anymore... and while we were talking about that, I ended up buying one extra sunflower, separate from the altar flowers.
Since I've been decluttering, I didn't have a vase of the size I wanted, so I used a leftover plastic bottle as a substitute.
I'm sorry, sunflower...
I'll keep a glass vase as a dream for another day.
Even so, when I displayed it, that spot seemed to brighten up, or maybe it was just my own spirits lifting, but I was happy about it and spent a while gazing at it with a smile.
A tiny bit of a smile in my busy, hectic days.
I have a small part of me that thinks, 'What am I doing buying flowers when I've left the house cleaning and so much else undone,' but these things are important, aren't they?
Every time I look at the sunflower, I feel warm and fuzzy.

And then. An addition.
I intended to make today corn day, but I got home late and was so hungry that I ate too much dinner beforehand, and couldn't follow through after that.
I probably won't have any breathing room tomorrow or the day after either.
I might have to put the corn on hold until Sunday.
