I feel happy even in a one-person black company: 1717th consecutive day on note
Today's word
If you enjoy your work, you can be happy even without days off.
Practical actions to "focus on what's in front of you" and grow
・Create a clear distinction between on and off
・Give your all to what is in front of you
・Take regular breaks
Yesterday started with cleaning around the entrance, then cleaning and preparing Delight, doing desk work, and afterwards, my wife and I went to the Nagara River.
Since it was a sunny Saturday and so hot, I thought, "Maybe we can still swim in the river!" and went to the Nagara River. It was the middle of a three-day weekend and quite crowded, but we managed to find a good spot and enjoyed ourselves.
I've been quite busy with work lately and haven't been able to find much time to relax, but for the first time in a while, I was able to swim in the river and relax while eating outside.
By touching nature, I was able to detox from various things that had built up, and it became a good time to refresh. After returning in the evening, I went back to Delight to tidy up and close, then went home, had an early dinner, and it was a fulfilling day.
It's important to take time off occasionally and let your body rest, isn't it? Today, I am recharged and working energetically.
Delight takes two days off during Obon and New Year's, but otherwise operates without holidays. I personally decided when I started working as a consultant in 2020 that I would work for three years without taking a single day off.
When I first started, I had anxieties like "Can I really do this without taking a break?" and fears like "What if I end up taking a break?" and I was half-doubting myself as I worked, but after a year of not taking a break, I gained confidence.
[By the way, today's content goes against work-style reform; it is a story about my personal work environment and does not recommend long working hours.]
In the second and third years, I came to enjoy the work itself and it wasn't a burden, but even so, I had something like an obsession that I "must never take a break." Entering the fourth year, I am now able to take time off naturally."Must never take a break"...
The important thing is to create a clear distinction between on and off, isn't it? When you decide to take a break today, forget about work and rest, and on days you work, focus on your work.
Simply put, focusing on what is in front of you makes both your on and off time fulfilling.
Let's properly switch between on and off and make every day fulfilling.
