(2) The day Kindle publishing, which I thought was a dream, became a reality - To my past self -
I would like to record the journey to Kindle publishing,
one step at a time.
Record of the journey to Kindle publishing #02
■ The origin of my love for writing
I have loved writing since I was a student.
I enjoyed the time spent diving into worlds of fantasy and putting what was in my head into words.
I belonged to the literature club for my three years of junior high school,
and I wrote poems.
In a class taught by my advisor (a modern Japanese teacher), I was once praised for a poem I wrote on the theme of "makeup." I remember how incredibly happy that made me.
I realize now that the experience of being recognized by an adult when you are a child
is something that leads to self-confidence later on.
Perhaps that was when "writing"
became something a little bit special to me.
■ Those days when I was chasing a dream
In high school, I joined the light music club and got hooked on Western music.
Before I knew it, my dream for the future had become to be a "music magazine editor."
But that dream didn't come true.
Even so, I couldn't give up,
so I went on to a vocational school where I could study literature.
■ The day I made my first "own book"
Among other things, the picture book workshop was interesting, and I had the experience of hand-binding a whole picture book with a story I wrote myself.
I don't have it anymore because I submitted it as a report for the workshop.
If I recall, it was a slightly unusual picture book based on Momotaro, but I have completely forgotten the content.
But the feeling of "having created a story myself"
still remains somewhere within me even now.
■ Those days when I was writing, and the time that gradually drifted away
Around the same time, I was writing short stories,
writing reviews of Western music concerts,
and making another picture book.
Looking back, I feel like I was involved in "creating" something
throughout my student days.
After graduation, while working in magazine production management,
I also had opportunities to write experience reports and the like.
After that, I became involved in design work,
spending my days working on advertising production.
Before I knew it, I had gradually drifted away from writing.
■ I thought it "wasn't the right time"
During my child-rearing years, I did advertising design from home, but it was quite tough for a freelancer at that time,
so I took the plunge and switched to office work.
It was also around that time that I switched from a Mac to a Windows PC.
In truth,
I wanted to write more of my own work.
But,
I feel like I was telling myself somewhere
that it "wasn't the right time."
■ And now
And now, I am in my late 50s.
I never imagined back then that I would be trying to publish a book on Kindle.
■ The reason why the dream has become a reality
But now, it is different.
The hurdles for self-publishing have lowered,
and there is the option of Kindle.
And, I have a partner called AI.
Writing down what is in my head, organizing it, and
giving it shape
has become much more realistic.
The idea of "publishing a book"
is no longer a dream, but a future I can choose.
When I was able to think that way,
the way I see the world changed just a little.
■ Remembering my starting point now
The reason I am having so much fun writing on note right now might be because I am gradually remembering the "starting point" that was inside me.
■ To my past self
That is exactly why I think about this while writing now.
I want to tell my past self.
"It's okay. The future is properly connected."I would say.
...Maybe, the me from back then
wouldn't have believed it right away, though.
■ Realizations that lead to the next step
But, there is one thing
that is bothering me.
That just "wanting to do it"
was not enough yet.
🌱 Today's realization
Dreams can get closer to reality
🌱 Things to do from now on
・Think a little more concretely about what kind of book it will be
・Proceed with research
・Plan to summarize those realizations in the next article

I want to continue to cherish
every step I take, even while feeling lost.
