The day AI gets a little off-track. The cause was the “previous conversation” | On the topic of persona resets
On weekend mornings, I wake up a little slowly and
drink my favorite milk tea.
“Ah, it’s the weekend. What should I do today?”
It’s a time when my feelings loosen up a bit like that.
While boiling water for a refill of tea,
something suddenly came to mind.
Come to think of it...
A while ago, my boss said with a troubled look on his face.
“AI is convenient, but sometimes it drags in previous topics and mixes them up with the current consultation.”
Ah, that. I understand.
I was feeling exactly the same thing.
Even though it should be listening properly,
somehow, off-track answers come back.
Wait? That’s a story I heard earlier.
That’s not the theme right now.
It’s not wrong, but
there’s a sense of discomfort that “it’s not the answer I want right now.”
At first, I thought it was a problem with the AI’s accuracy.
But, it was different.
The cause was
“the premises of the previous conversation remained.”
While it’s convenient that AI remembers conversations,
it can also drag them along as they are.
That’s why I,
when I feel things aren’t clicking well,
make it a point to cut it off once,
and reset the premises.
To fix this misalignment,
what I do isa “persona reset”.
The act itself is simple,
but many people stumble here at first.
I was also, at first,
in a state of “not knowing how to fix it.”
At first,
I was thinking, “Will this really work well?”
But, after doing this setting, my husband, who hadn’t touched it even once at first, started looking at industry news every morning before I knew it, and changed to the point where he could dig deeper into interesting news from it with AI and apply it to his work.
If right now,
・The AI's answers feel slightly off
・You feel like it's dragging in the previous conversation
・You feel like you aren't using it well
If you are in that state,
before looking at the “how-to,”
simply reviewing the “premises” might change things.
Including this “persona reset,”
I have compiled into one article
what my husband, who was bad at AI,
did to gradually become able to use it.
“The settings I did first”
“How to organize it so it doesn't feel off”
“How to fix it when things don't go well”
I have written it in a way that you can try it as is.
If right now,
you are in a state of “using it while it feels slightly off,”
if you leave it as is, that sense of discomfort might remain.
Conversely, just by organizing this once,
your conversations with AI will change significantly.
Since it is content that can be organized in 5 minutes,
please take a moment to review it while you can.
👇 I have compiled it here
Includes a “ChatGPT First Steps Guide” (PDF with screenshots) that you can look back on later
※ Inside this, there is also the method for persona reset.
🌱 Today's Step
When things don't go well,
try reviewing the “premises” rather than the “how-to”
