(18) Kindle books: It was busy after publishing.

I would like to record my journey after Kindle publishing one by one.

"Once I press the publish button, I can take a break."

That is what I thought.

Thinking about the structure, rewriting it many times, deciding on the cover, and registering it with KDP.

When I finally reached the point of publishing, I was filled with a sense of accomplishment, thinking,
"It's done!"

But in reality, it was different.

Kindle books were busier after they were published.

About two days after pressing the publish button, sales finally started on Amazon.

The first thing I started wasregistering for Amazon Author Central.

I entered my author profile and introduction, and proceeded with excitement, thinking,"Finally, an author page."

However, there was one thing that didn't go as planned.

When I tried to register my profile image, the button to upload the image was inactive.

"Huh? Did I set something wrong?"

No matter how many times I checked, I couldn't find the cause.

When I looked into it, it seemed that it takes a little time for author information to be reflected immediately after sales start.

About 24 hours later, I was able to register the image successfully, and my author profile was finally completed.

Next issetting up a free campaign.

You can set a Kindle free promotion for a maximum of 5 days.

However, I chose 3 days.

There are two reasons for this.

One is that I wanted to save some free promotion days for my next publication.

The other is that I felt both I and my readers would get tired if I kept promoting it for 5 full days.

Moreover, this setting had to be completed by the day before.

I learned for the first time then that "I'll do it later" wouldn't be in time.

Since the free promotion is set based on US time, it starts at 17:00 in Japan. And 3 days lasts until 16:59 on the day after the final day.
Furthermore, because of daylight saving time, it starts an hour earlier, so as of August, it starts at 16:00 and lasts until 15:59 on the day after the final day.

In the meantime, I was also working on preparing for the publication celebration party.

I thought of giveaway ideas, prepared a photo spot where I could take pictures with the readers, and wrote announcement articles.

Right around that time, I also had the opportunity to try out the carousel feature of the diagram builder that I won in Ponta-san's project.

If I was going to do it, I wanted to connect the world of AI Cafe Nano🌱 directly to the publication celebration party.

I wanted the readers to enjoy not just reading the articles, but also "the feeling of having come to a party".

With that thought in mind, I created a carousel for the first time as well.

And then, on the morning of the free promotion.

"Now I'm all set!"

……or so I thought, but it wasn't over yet.

The last thing remaining was A+ Content.

I wanted to make the Kindle book's introduction page one that conveys the atmosphere of the book even better.

Thinking that, I started working on it together with ChatGPT's Work.

Checking image sizes, reviewing the layout, and adjusting the text.

It took more time than I expected, and before I knew it, I had spent almost the entire time from morning until afternoon focusing on creating the A+ content.

Even so, I managed to finish it and submitted it to Amazon.

I wonder if it will be reflected before the free campaign starts...

While waiting with a bit of nervousness, it was successfully reflected about two hours later.

It was reflected faster than I thought, and I was truly relieved.

And then, July 25th at 4:00 PM.

The free campaign and the publication celebration party began.

For the first time, I felt,

Finally, I can deliver this to the readers.

That was the feeling I had.

I used to think that an author's job was only to write books.

But in reality, it was different.

Setting up the author page, preparing for the free campaign, thinking about the party to welcome the readers, and gradually improving the book's introduction page.

Even after finishing writing the book, the work to deliver it to the readers continued.

The day I pressed the publish button was not the finish line.

Once sales began, my daily life as anauthortruly started.

That was what I realized after my first Kindle publication.
