[Photo Set] Building a Komeda's Coffee Shop

Hello!
This time, I will be writing about how I built an assembly-style Komeda's Coffee shop using Seria's dollhouse base.

By the way, this is a photo set that uses furniture and accessories from the Komeda's Coffee shop collection previously released by Re-Ment.
*I am using both the first and second series.

◾️Base (Walls/Floor)

The boards used are three pieces: the floor and the left and right walls.

Floor
(I have applied a steel sheet to it)
Wall with a window frame cut out
(I have applied a steel sheet to part of it)
Wall with a door frame cut out
(I have applied a steel sheet to part of it)

I only applied the steel sheet where necessary to save on material, so it looks a bit awkward... lol

The reason why I apply steel sheets to the boards is explained in the table of contents under "You can change the decorations" in the article below.

◾️Flooring/Wallpaper

I prepared a total of 7 sheets for the wallpaper and flooring.

・Flooring

Interior floor
(This is wood-grain flooring currently sold at Seria)
Exterior floor
(This is a printout of free stock material)

・Exterior wallpaper

Exterior wall
Exterior wall
(Wallpaper with a door frame cut out)

For the exterior wall, I used the brick wall currently sold at Seria for the brick sections, and brown masking tape for the pillar-like sections.

The brick wall designed specifically for the dollhouse base is very convenient!

For the Komeda logo section (the green band), I created a replica based on the actual Komeda shops, printed it out, and pasted it on.

・Interior wallpaper

Interior wall
Interior wall (with window frame)
Interior wall (with door frame)

For the interior walls, I used wood grain patterns printed from free stock materials.

Wood grain printed on plain paper

I attached it to thick paper using double-sided tape, and for the seams, I used 0.5mm thick cardboard cut into strips about 3mm wide.

I glued the wood grain printed paper onto the 3mm wide strips of cardboard,
and then attached them to the seams.
The black part of the baseboard is masking tape.

By the way, I used this paper craft printing paper for the floors and walls.
It has a moderate thickness, making it easy to use for wallpaper.
Also, the back side of the printed surface is a white that isn't too bright, which looks great for wallpaper!

I use this by printing directly onto it,
or by pasting wood grain patterns printed on plain paper onto it.

・Others

I will also use a brick wall.

A cut-out brick wall from Seria

By adding this to the interior wallpaper mentioned earlier, I will use it as a different wall.

On the interior wall with the window frame,
I place the brick wall over it,
and transform it into an interior wall with brick!

I want to be able to use both the white wall and the brick wall, so I am not gluing the brick wall down.

◾️Inset frame

As appeared in the photos earlier, the windows and such are made using the familiar inset frames.
* Regarding the inset frames, this is explained in Western Confectionery Shop Base & Furniture Edition.

By the way, I took some quick photos of how to make the inset frames!

First, make something like this to match the frame opening cut into the board.
(Using 0.5mm thick cardboard)

I made it by gluing together cardboard cut into 5mm widths.
I make it so that it fits into the frame like this.

Matching what I made earlier, I create something like this.

Cardboard that has been cut.

When you glue the two together with bond, it looks like this.

Combine!

With this, the inset frame is complete!

It snaps right into the frame.

Inset frames can be finished by applying your favorite colored paper or painting them.

This time, I applied wood grain printed on plain paper.

The contents of the inset frame can be freely made with your preferred design.

Since this is a window, it looks like this!
(Made with the same cardboard as the inset frame)
I have attached a plastic sheet to the back.

Once glued to the inset frame, the window is complete!

I also made a door using an inset frame in the same way, but I will post photos later.

◾️ Re-Ment Partition Wall

The Re-Ment Komeda product includes a partition wall, but the base at the bottom was in the way, so I cut it off.

It feels a bit resistant to modify ready-made products, doesn't it?

After cutting, the paint peeled off, so I applied black masking tape.

Applying the masking tape made it less noticeable.

Also, since it becomes easy to tip over without a base, I drilled holes with a pin vise and inserted several magnets.

Small but strong magnets.
Thanks to the magnets, it's a bit harder to tip over now.

◾️Photo Set (Setup) Examples

Using the three boards introduced earlier, seven wallpapers, and the brick wall, I made it so they can be used as four types of photo sets.
*All wall accessories have magnets attached to the back.

・Store Interior A

Store Interior A photo set

First, this is Store Interior A, which uses the interior wallpaper and the interior wallpaper (with window frame).

The wall on the left is the interior wallpaper covered with the brick wall.

I have arranged the furniture and other items with the image of the right side of the shop.

The window is the insert-frame window I introduced earlier.

Window

I recreated the stained glass lighting because the Komeda lighting I saw online was cute♫

I shaped it with plastic board and applied transfer stickers.
(I tried to imitate the design of the real thing when drawing it.)

I wanted to express a textured glass look, so I applied a textured privacy film for windows on the back.

The way to light it up and hang it is the same mechanism as the lighting that appeared in Western Confectionery Shop Accessories Part 1.

The picture frames decorating the wall are made of cardboard.

I shaped it with cardboard and finished it by applying wood-grain printed paper and
masking tape.
For the Kuroneige advertisement, I used the
paper accessories that came with the Re-Ment set.
This illustration was drawn by my husband.
It's surreal and I love it! Lol

The Re-Ment lineup includes menus and such, but since there was no menu stand, I made one myself.

Menu stand
I made it simply using black cardboard.

For the roller blinds, I wrapped and glued orange colored paper around 2mm and 1mm wide plastic rods.

Roller blinds
For the strings, I used thread stiffened with glue.

・Store Interior B

Store Interior B photo set
※Please ignore the fact that the floor orientation is wrong.

For Store Interior B, I also used the interior wallpaper and the interior wallpaper (with window frames), but this time I covered the right wall with a brick wall, creating a different layout than before.

This time, I covered the right wall with a brick wall.

The image is of the left side of the shop.

The back left is a two-person seat.

The picture frames attached to the left wall were also made using the same production method as in Store Interior A.

I made something that looks like an advertisement using
photos of the miniature Komeda's that I took myself. Lol

For both Store Interior A and Store Interior B, I have placed numbers on the tables.

Having little details like this adds to the realism.

・Store Entrance (Inside)

Store entrance (inside)

This is a store entrance (inside) set using the interior wallpaper and interior wallpaper (with door frame).
I covered the right wall with brick wallpaper.

Also, to change the image slightly from the previous interior, I added a restroom door.

The restroom sign I drew thinking it would look cute,
ended up looking kind of creepy. lol

It is made of cardboard, and I attached a magnetic sheet to the back.

Restroom door

The method for making the doorknob is written inWestern Confectionery Shop Base & Furniture Edition.

I also made a waiting list stand.

I used black cardboard
(I printed out the guidance text and pasted it on)

The cash register counter was made with 1mm thick cardboard, and finished by pasting on colored paper and paper printed with a wood grain pattern.

For the top board, I layered two pieces of cardboard to give it thickness.

The entrance door is made with a frame that fits together with the window.
It does not move and is strictly for decoration.

I printed the store name on the window using transfer stickers
(Since it is the image of the inside of the door,
I intentionally reversed the text)

I forgot to take a picture, but I also made an emergency exit sign above the door.
(Although I say I made it, I just printed a free stock image and pasted it onto cardboard... lol)

・Store entrance (outside)

Store entrance (outside)

This is a store entrance (outside) set using the exterior wall and exterior wall (with door frame).

Since it is the image of the outside of the store, the wallpaper and floor have a completely different impression.

I tried to imagine the exterior wall of Komeda's!

The entrance mat is a simple item printed on plain paper, but I feel like just having something like this increases the resolution.

It is attached to the floor with magnets.
I just pasted printed paper onto black construction paper!

The entrance door uses the same inset frame as the store entrance, but I changed the color of the frame slightly.

I used brown masking tape for the frame.

Above the Komeda sign, I installed a slightly modified dollhouse light sold at Seria.

I'm so grateful for ready-made products like this!

◾️ Regarding preventing light leakage from cut-out window and door frames

If you use thick paper for wallpaper and don't shine light directly from behind, it won't be that noticeable, but if you are concerned about light leakage, you can solve it by placing a magnetic sheet on the back as shown below.
(Assuming a steel sheet is attached to the board)

For details, please see [Photo Set] Making a Sylvanian Heights with a Seria Dollhouse Base [100 Yen Shop].

◾️ List of items made

This time, I used several Re-Ment products and other ready-made items, so there wasn't much to make, which was easy!

Items I made myself

By the way, the potted plant on the far left was made years ago for the Trooper family.

Also, materials for magazines and newspapers are distributed in the two articles below.

・Addendum regarding the menu booklet

Since the menu booklet included with the Re-Ment set doesn't open, I tried making my own opening menu booklet.

I will use these two paper accessories that came with the Re-Ment set for the menu spread.

◆How to make◆

Cut cardboard about 0.2mm thick into 5.3cm x 3.65cm pieces.

I used the paper craft paper I used for the wallpaper.

Apply black masking tape to the cardboard from earlier.

If you don't have black masking tape,
black construction paper should work fine too.
Cover the entire front side.
I applied it to the back like this.

Draw a line about 2.6 cm from both the left and right sides.

Trace the lines you drew with a stylus or similar tool.

A toothpick might also work.
This is what it looks like when you fold it along the lines.

Using the same cardboard, prepare three pieces cut to 3.5 cm x 2.5 cm.

Combine the two paper accessories included with the Re-Ment set and the three pieces of cardboard from earlier, then apply glue to the spine.
*When stacking, make sure the two Re-Ment paper accessories are stacked so they form a spread.

Apply glue to the spine.

Once the glue is dry, glue it to the center of the cardboard covered with black masking tape.

Adhere the first and last pages using double-sided tape or glue.

And it's finished!

You can also glue the parts other than this spread if you like.

It ends up a little larger than the Re-Ment booklet, but I've made an open menu booklet!

A bit on the large side.
After all, I want to see the menu open! lol
"Hmm, which one should I choose?"

By the way, it might also be a good idea to place other paper accessories on the cash register counter like this.

◾️About Storage

Since this is also an assembly-type set, everything including the Re-Ment furniture and accessories can be stored in a document case.

Everything fits into the document case!
The wallpaper can also be stored together with it.

Also, as usual, the boards are stored separately in a case like this.

All the boards are stored together in one place.

◾️Trying out a photoshoot

I immediately tried taking photos with Sylvanian Families!
※Please note that I didn't pay attention to the background this time, so it might look plain white. lol

It looks like a trio of good friends came to Komeda's.
It looks delicious, doesn't it♫
They tried entering the shop, but...
It seems a bit crowded.
As expected of the popular Komeda's!
But I wonder if they'll be able to get in soon?
The Biscuit Bear father is also waiting while reading the newspaper.
Let's write our names down for now!
I'm looking forward to it~♫

After waiting for a while, it seems everyone was able to get a seat.

The conversation is lively with delicious drinks and bean snacks.
The Biscuit Bear father,
is having tea while thinking about something all by himself.
If you look closely, he was drinking a cream soda.
I wonder if he has quite the sweet tooth...?
In the back, there is also an elderly Chocolate Rabbit couple.
The grandmother is ordering a mini Shiro-Noir.
The Chocolate Rabbit
grandfather and grandmother who are still close even in their old age.
The relaxed and warm atmosphere of Komeda
makes you forget the time.
It's a wonderful time, isn't it? ♫

And so, I took some photos like this!
I love Komeda myself and often go there with my husband, so I'm very happy that I was able to make a photo set this time.

I want to shrink down and go to Komeda at home too! Haha

I made it so I can take various photos, so I think I'll enjoy the Komeda vibe even when I'm at home from now on! Of course, I'll still go to the shop too!! Haha

◾️ Regarding the use of the boards (panels) I have made so far

Starting with a video rental shop, I have made several assembly-type photo sets using dollhouse bases.

Since I have accumulated boards with window frames and door frames cut out, I think it would be nice to try making a shop using the existing boards next time.

* For a detailed explanation of the panel (board) list, please see the article [Photo Set] Making a Sylvanian Housing Complex with Seria Dollhouse Bases [100 Yen Shop].

I used boards 18 and 19 for the Komeda walls this time.

I haven't decided what to make next yet, but I have compiled my creations using dollhouse bases in the magazine below, so I would be happy if you could come and take a look again ♫

Thank you for reading until the end!
