[Building Construction] Making a Sylvanian Apartment Complex [Kitchen Edition]

Since I built a house from scratch for my Sylvanian Families, I've decided to write a summary of the process.

Production period: 2020/02/10 - 2020/03/11

By the way, even though I call it a "Sylvanian Apartment Complex,"
I just want it to feel like an apartment complex in terms of the setting,
and it's unclear if the final result will actually look like one. Lol

First, I made the floor for the kitchen.

I cut up some 100-yen shop remake sheets into small pieces...

and applied them like flooring.

Originally, I had bought these remake sheets for the Trooper family's renovation,
but I didn't use them because the wood grain was too large and hard to work with.

I felt it was a waste since I had already bought them, but then,
I saw someone on Twitter cutting sheets into small pieces to make flooring,
and I thought, "I can use them for this!" so I decided to give it a try!

Next, I made the kitchen walls.

I decided on the window frame...

and cut it with a utility knife!
By the way, for both the floor and walls, I used 100-yen shop foam boards (color boards).

This is it. (Sorry, I threw away the bag, so this is an image from the internet...)
I used the 5mm thick ones this time.

I made the window frame out of balsa wood...

and painted it.

I stuck 100-yen shop window film onto a plastic sheet,
and fitted it into the window.

This window film has a Showa-era vibe that's cute.

I'm also making a wall on the left side.

I also attached thin, white-painted boards to the floor section.

I feel like having more details makes it look more realistic... or so I think. Lol

Since I plan to make the room in front of the kitchen the living room,
I'll make a wall and an entrance on the front side too.

Making something like a sliding door...

My hands hurt...

Tried fitting it in.

I'm the person who completely messed up the measurements. How sad...

But I decided to push through with it anyway.
One door is fine, I guess (whatever).

Painted it, and added the plastic sheet and window film!

It's done!

My attention to detail is that only the top part isn't frosted glass.

It's messy, but I don't care.

The right side is planned to be a hallway, so I'm going to build a wall there too!

Next time, I'll write about making the living room.
