The greatest treasure I received from my work 🎁💎.
About 20 years ago, I was working as a driver for a major shipping company, S-Kyubin.
From early morning until late at night, through the sweltering heat of summer and the swirling snow of winter.
Every day was filled with so many packages and such a busy schedule that I barely had time to catch my breath.
Even so, the moment a customer opened their door was special.
“Sorry to keep you waiting!”
I delivered those words and a smile as the best gift I could offer.
After 13 years of life as a driver, I moved into the food and beverage industry.
The stage of my life changed, and those days became a distant memory.
One evening, more than 10 years after I had left that job.
I received a message on my smartphone from a stranger via social media.
“By any chance, were you working at S-Kyubin about 10 years ago?”
To be honest, I didn't recognize the woman's name.
She said she lived in the area I used to deliver to.
“You might not remember me, but you used to come to deliver packages sometimes.”
“Is that so! I'm happy you remembered me 😊”
The message that followed shook my life to its core.
“Back then, I had just had a baby and I was so anxious and lonely; I felt like I was on the verge of a breakdown from childcare. But sometimes you would come to deliver, and your wonderful smile always gave me so much energy! Thank you so much!”
She said she saw my photo on social media and thought, “Could it be him?” so she reached out.
Warm tears streamed down my cheeks as I stared at the screen.
To think that the smile I wore without a second thought,
had lit a small spark of light in someone's dark days.
While I was caught up in the daily grind of work,
how often had I really looked at her expression?
How much had we really talked?
We probably didn't even talk for a few minutes each time.
Yet, it had remained in her heart for over 10 years.
This chance reunion became the most precious treasure of all for me.
“A casual smile can save someone.”
Even at this very moment, your casual words or gestures might be resonating gently in someone's heart.
I hope to continue delivering these treasure-like insights to many more people.
