Fighting Breast Cancer: Sudden Itching and Pulling Pain
It has been 19 days since my breast cancer surgery.
I still have that pulling pain. I've heard that the pulling pain subsides in two to three weeks, or perhaps it takes as long as a year.
A year is crazy, lol. Besides, I don't want that, lol.
However, since the pain is fading day by day, I'm taking it lightly, thinking that it will surely get easier in another week or so.
But no matter how lightly I take it, I'm afraid of shopping.
It's unlikely that I'll bump into anyone, but the thought of 'what if I do?' crosses my mind, and I find myself hunching over.
But hunching over hurts again. So, I try walking with my arms slightly open, as if to keep others at a distance.
Daughter: 'Mom, you're walking weird. You look like a gorilla.'
I see, a gorilla is bad. So, what should I do? Then, my bright daughter says,
Daughter: 'Why don't you push a cart? Then you won't bump into anyone.'
I see, that's a great idea. However, here is another problem: the strap of the bag I'm wearing diagonally across my shoulder hurts.
Daughter: 'I'll carry the bag, so it's fine.'
And so, my daughter is carrying it for me. I'm very grateful, but I feel bad. Since she's a daughter with zero stamina who is always complaining about chest pain herself, she looks like she might collapse before I do.
In this way, we spend our daily lives shopping while looking out for each other.
But! Another problem has emerged!
This time it's itching. It's a squirming, restless itch that makes me feel like insects are crawling inside my chest.
I can't scratch it just because it's itchy. I endure it for a while, telling myself it will subside soon.
But it doesn't subside.
What should I do...?
I think it's proof that the wound is healing, but I'm troubled by this unpleasant itching. So, I touch my chest over my clothes.
It doesn't hurt
Stroke it
It doesn't hurt
Alright, then I'll stroke the itchy spot
Stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke...
And then, oh how strange
The itching is gone
It seems that stroking the surgical scar relieves the itching
It might not be the same for everyone, but
this is how I was able to get through a difficult spot
That's a relief
I can spend tonight peacefully as well lol
