Parenting Diary #32 | What Color Is Your Blood
This happened the other day while we were playing at the park.
My son, who was running around the park,
tripped over a curb and fell.
I heard a pretty solid thud, so I braced myself, thinking, "Ah, he's going to cry now," but
contrary to my expectations, my son didn't cry.
I wondered what was up, and when I looked to see how he was doing,
he stood up and had a slightly puzzled look on his face.
He's gotten so strong.
Before, he definitely would have
cried, "Waaaaah!"
I felt a little bit of growth in him,
and I was moved inside.
Just then,
my son looked at his hand and said,
"Yellow."
...Yellow?
Wondering what he meant, I peered at his hand, and
to my surprise, he was bleeding.
Oh no, I thought, and immediately took him to the water fountain to wash his hand.
Fortunately, it was just a small scrape from a pebble or something,
so I was relieved it wasn't a serious injury.
By the way, he saw his blood earlier
and called it "yellow"...
I suppose they still haven't connected the actual colors
with the names of the colors yet,
I never thought the day would come when I'd say this line for real.
