So the tree had fruit on it all along!

It was a little over two years ago, but I wrote an article like this ↓.

At that point in time ↑, I was...

The musician part of me is a 'large tree' that has already taken root so for now, it won't wither easily even if I leave it alone for a while.

In contrast, the painter part of me is a 'blade of grass' that I am currently watering and fertilizing .

I will focus on my painter self for a while until I can at least grow this into a 'small tree' and balance things out (so that as a painter, I can be as independent as I am as a musician) until then .

I'll make note a 'place where 80-90% of the content is painter-related' so as not to confuse readers.

...is what I was thinking.

However, someone recently said to me,

(Instead of 'after' making them each independent separately, then combining them into a hybrid fruit...)
Isn't the 'tree' itself already a hybrid, and isn't painting just the state where 'fruit' has grown on it?

Isn't it that your 'current form' is the result of years of harvest already bearing fruit?

...and hearing that, I was struck by the realization.

That's certainly true... My performances since I started painting have definitely been influenced; both the 'mood during practice/the expression that comes out' and the shades that seep through are different from before, and the paintings I create are also things that can only be made 'because I am a musician who paints'.

I am who I am because of both. That in itself is me.

Come to think of it...

...there has been a foreshadowing flow over the past few months that led to this realization hitting home...

Especially this autumn, having my solo exhibition and concert just a few weeks apart, and the experience of having to 'balance them simultaneously' because the preparation periods overlapped, was significant. Was God trying to make me realize something here? (Previously, they were naturally set up like a seesaw at 'timings where I could focus on just one without any issues'.)

Also, among the visitors to my solo exhibition, there were people like 'an accessory maker who has been doing vocal music for 4 years and has their first concert coming up (= the reverse version of me)' and 'someone who plays an instrument while serving customers at their own solo exhibition'... and many others, all sorts of dual-wielders coming out of the woodwork...

Whether it's a sign of the times or a 'phenomenon where they exist where they exist,' I also got the impression that, regardless of how many years they've been doing it, more and more people are naturally and proudly showcasing their other worlds on equal footing.

That's right... For a while, with the added freshness, I even thought, 'Oh, maybe the painting me is my true self?' but when it came time for 'an actual performance!', the switch would flip, and that side was also 'poured with soul'...

Even for things I've been doing for years, each time is unique. I could never do it half-heartedly, and for the solo exhibition, it wasn't like 'it's only my second time, so this is probably fine.' Whether I have years of experience or not, my state of mind is the same when 'playing a single note' or 'placing a single brushstroke'.

There is only 'this "now" moment (where I become "nothing" and act as a medium)'.

I want to convey. I want to deliver.
If there is a 'means' I can use to do that,
I will just give it my all, moment by moment.

(Other dual-wielding performers... you understand, right?)

So, at this point,I think I'll also add a 'musician profile' to my articles. (Until now, I've been sending people to my old blog from my pure musician days when necessary.) It's become impossible to separate them now...

And after that,I might make a representative profile that includes links to both profiles in the article itself or something...

I might as well put both of them together in a note!

...That's the kind of mood I'm in right now. Haha.

I will start working on them one by one, so I look forward to your continued support.

[Postscript]
I hope to have an opportunity to interact with fellow dual-wielders someday. (Things like "How are you active?" or "How do you balance both?" or "How do you explain it to people?") A new dream has emerged...
