Let's walk as far as we can walk
Today, my family gathered at my parents' house because they wanted to celebrate me and my younger brother's wife.
It's strange how everyone has been gathering frequently since then, even while saying, "This must be the last time!"
Maybe that's just how things are.
As for what we were celebrating, it was a celebration for me that I missed out on last year.
My brother's wife reached that age this year.
Well, isn't it fine? Don't worry about the details.

My younger brother gave me an electric massage device called miti health that can perform myofascial release.
I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing in this day and age, but you can look things up on the internet right away.
Wow, he gave me such a nice thing; as expected of my brother.
(He was promoting his own likability by saying that although he paid for it, his wife chose the item. She really is a good wife, honestly.)
Before I could even use it, my brother who gave it to me wouldn't let it go, saying he had frozen shoulder.
My father, seeing that, wanted to try it too, and eventually ended up wanting it for himself, even begging me to buy him one.
Wasn't it a gift for me? (~_~;)
With all that going on, we had a harmonious meal, but today's meal was a catered bento box with a history.
This was the same thing we ate on the day my father collapsed.
At that time, it was for my father's 90th birthday celebration.
Less than an hour after we finished eating, the incident occurred, and we were plunged into a life of caregiving in the blink of an eye.
For me, this bento box was an ill-omened item, and I wanted to avoid it if possible.
But my brother's idea of "It's a revenge match!" caught me by surprise.
That's right, you're totally right, we just need to get revenge.
Thanks to that, the "bad luck" attached to this bento box was brilliantly washed away.
The bento box itself was never to blame; I was just the one who had arbitrarily attached a curse to it.
I'm sorry, Mr. Bento, it was delicious today too.
After the meal, my brother slowly brought out his computer and started playing a DVD.
It was titled "Happy Golden Wedding Anniversary," made 10 years ago.
Honestly, I don't remember it well.
Where was it shown, I wonder?
It seems he made it by scanning all the photos from my parents' albums.
He was really into that back then; no wonder it's so elaborate.
Photos of their wedding, photos of them holding me as a child.
Photos of us siblings looking prim and proper.
Photos of our family trips.
But why is it?
As soon as this song started playing in the background, my tear ducts just collapsed.
We've lived well, haven't we?
We've had so many fun times.
We were a good family.
"Dad,
we'll play this DVD at your funeral too," I said, and he replied,
"Yeah, yeah, please do that."
Before going to sleep, my father smiled contentedly, saying it was a truly good day today.
Well, honestly, not every day is a good day for either of us.
But if we have a day like this, we can keep trying for another week, right?
That's all we can do—just keep walking as far as we can.
The title image is me walking with today's Pikmin.
I look forward to your comments.
If you send them with a lighthearted tone, I'll reply just as lightly.
